School Story

I remember going driving with Michael Peterson after he bowled at Sheridan Lanes. Cold, freezing precipitation icing the roads in March. We each lit a cigar and headed for 7th Av in Carol Beach, driving south toward that curve at 93rd. We were listening to his 8-track player, and he revved his speed up to probably 60+ mph. Approaching that curve, I said "Uh, you might want to slow down a bit." He didn't really. Went into the curve, he lost control of the car, hit the guard rail and came straight back down, landing on it's side. As all this happened I'm thinking one of those weird thoughts that doesn't have anything to do with anything ("Well this'll be the end of a nice tape player"). After the car came to rest on the side of the road, me laying on top of Peterson, the first words out of my mouth were "Goddamn it, Peterson!" I also realized that my cigar had gone flying. Would it ignite a gas fume? Well after that we got ourselves out of the car, and eventually went back to my house to watch TV. We played it real nonchalant around my parents ("Oh, nothing really happened today.")

GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU MARC. (Excuse caps) I could totally identify with your being named Funniest. That's pretty much how I remember you. I split my time between. New Mexico where I live and Wisconsin, where I have friends and family. U graduated UWSP in Biology, and spent years working in environmental chemistry, and the last 23 yrs at the Kenosha WWTP plant doing labwork and industrial monitoring. I play fiddle and guitar for fun.

Hey Bruce, did you play in orchestra in Junior and Senior High? I played String Bass in 7th grade. By spring, I beat out April Faulkner for 1st chair. She was a 9th grader. Then I switched to the cello, which I still play today. I also play the viola and violin. Let me know and have a great day!!!!!
The pic is me and my oldest son playing together. He still lives in Kenosha; I was visiting from Las Vegas in 2016. We never played together. I gave him my cello from junior and senior high. So, I bought another cello and had it sent to his house, so we could do that and make memories.
