Vickie (Pearman,'72) and I have been foster parenting a young man who is now (thankfully) a rising senior at East. He just got his license in May, so I picked him up from school for the entire year just ended. It was a trip down memory lane to go back there so much. They have a nice administration building now, another gym, new bleachers in the football stadium, and a very nicely upgraded baseball stadium. The landscaping is beautiful .Of course they have added another parking on the back side of the school to accommodate all the cars. We went to orientation with him last fall and went in most of the classroom buildings, which haven't changed much since we were there. The kids look sooo young and are such a diverse group. Even the teachers look like they should still be in high school. I hate to see SRO's there with guns ,but that's our world now and they do help keep our schools safe. I don't think Mr. Lewis would like the way the kids dress now, but I'm glad things have loosened up since our day. I've got to know several kids from East since Chase came to live with us and I think they are a good group. I think the future will be in good hands despite all the negative thing we hear about young people. The 60's were a turbulent time for us and the last 45 years have been amazing to experience. I think this generation is in for a similar ride!

Thanks for sharing your info about adoption and foster parenting. We are now foster parenting a 17 year old young man who is a junior at East Forsyth HS. I picked him up most of the year after school and going back to the school was interesting. The campus is bigger and and the landscaping beautiful. The student body is very diverse in every way. It's very amusing to see the way the kids dress now compared to the way we look in our yearbook. It's hard to believe we are over 45 years older than that group. Hope you have a great summer and happy (belated) birthday.
