Kewanee Schools Foundation Class Website Portal

The Kewanee Schools Foundation has created a Class Website Portal for all alumni and guests to find any KHS Class website and members of each class.   The new website portal will be operational soon and will be available at www.khsclasswebsites.com
The new website will make it simple to find any KHS Class website, links to other Kewanee Schools or Kewanee Schools Foundation information and a simple way to donate to the Kewanee Schools Foundation. “We are very pleased to bring this new and exciting feature to our alumni. Staying in touch with each other is very important and our new website will assist greatly “,  said Tom Ratliff, President of Kewanee Schools Foundation Board of Directors.
As an additional feature of the new website portal, each KHS Class will have the opportunity to create its own website initially provided by the Foundation. Each class website will be funded by Kewanee Schools Foundation and supported through the contributions by the members of each class.   “The total cost of creating each class website is very reasonable. We are excited to be able to offer each KHS class this opportunity”, added Ratliff.    The class websites will be administered through the Foundation office and each class will be responsible for having someone responsible for the content of the class website.
Currently, at least five KHS Classes have websites. Examples of KHS Class websites can be viewed at the following web addresses. KHS Class of 1959 is www.kewanee59.com, KHS Class of 1960 is www.kewanee1960.com and KHS Class of 1981 is www.khs1981.com .
The creation of the Class websites portal has been a work in progress for several months. Doug Currier, a Kewanee Schools Foundation Board member , presented the idea to the Board after creating the class website for the KHS Class of 81. After consideration of the idea, the Class Website Committee was formed and developed the criteria for class website development and how the cost of each website would be considered and implemented. After several months of work on the project, the new Class Website Portal has been created and the criteria for each class website is completed and now available.
Here’s how it works. Any KHS Class that would like to have their own class website is encouraged to call the Kewanee Schools Foundation office to get started. The Foundation will provide a grant request form to the KHS Class that will be submitted for approval. Upon approval, the Foundation Assistant will provide step by step instruction to the class representative responsible for creation of the new website. The funds for creating the website will be forwarded to the company that we are working with for the websites. The payment will be for the total cost of the website for the first year. Each class will be asked to agree that the class will be responsible for raising at least $100 per year to support the annual cost of the website. Any contribution to the Kewanee Schools Foundation will be eligible to be counted towards the cost of the website. The Foundation office will keep track of the funding for each class.  The KHS Class Website Portal, as well as each class website itself, will have a very simple way for any classmate to donate to the Kewanee Schools Foundation.
All new graduating classes will also have the opportunity to form their class website and will receive information from the Director of the Kewanee Schools Foundation upon graduation about the importance of giving back to the Foundation to ensure the future of our schools for many years to come. As an additional feature of the new website, each class will benefit greatly as each class website has a built in feature of planning for your class reunions.   Each class website will allow each class to remain in contact and a simple way to ensure accurate addresses for each class member at all times.
