I retired from State Farm in 2014 and love retirement, traveling, and occasionally working.
Growing up in the turbulent 60s I probably rebelled more than I conformed. After graduation we moved to Springfield, Illinois and fall started college at Western but decided that wasn't for me at that time of my life. The best part of that experience was meeting Mari, my college roommate, we still travel and visit often since she lives in southern California. I returned to Springfield after Western and started classes at Springfield Junior College where I met my husband, Mark. We married we and moved to Normal where he continued his Business degree at Illinois State University. Mark and Suz, our children, were born and raised in Normal. We divorced in Dec 1981 and then in Jan 1982 my mom died suddenly and dad, Coach Corbin, moved in with my kids and I. During that time I finished my degree at Illinois State University in Theraupedic Recreation. I moved to the Colorado mountains in 1989 where I loved living on mountain streams. Life there was a slower pace and I reconnected my friendship with Janis Pearson. In 1997 I returned to Bloomington/Normal, started working at State Farm, retiring June 1, 2014 after 16 years. I’m working part time as elder care giver which allows me to travel about every three months or so. I love living in the southwest and traveled the remaining remnants of Route 66 fall of 2019. In the 1980’s I was fortunate to travel to many beautiful places, enjoyed downhill and crosscountry skiing in the US, Canada, Austria, and Italy, and ventured into white water rafting and sailing. Before I moved to Colorado and crewed on a 40 ft sailboat around Lake Michigan for two weeks. I visit Kewanee ocassionaly but it doesn't remind me of the Kewanee I grew up in.
