Linette Schaller (Miller) (1989)
Here is the burning question that has been on my mind since high school. How the hell did Mr. Flax get a degree in English? I remember him saying, "all of yous need to get this paper in, blah, blah, blah." Hell, I practically flunked his speech class......I was scarred until college when I took a real speech class and they taped me and made me watch it.....what, people don't really talk like that? How I ever entered a career where I do public speaking practically every day I will never know.
I remember a funny story about the Dead Baby House. I don't remember who all was there but I think me, Jeannie, Amy, Brad Putter, and Darren Wire for sure, but maybe more. Well, the guys thought it would be funny to run in there and hide then jump out and scare us. However, they weren't anticipating disturbing the comfortable sleep of a skunk. Needless to say, they came out a little stinky and we made them ride on the hood of my old green station wagon all the way back to town, you know the one with the paneling on the sides...the family truckster. By the way, who invented paneling, good Lord they put that shit on everything back then....I mean who was sitting around one day and thought, hey lets put it on the side of a car?
But that wasn't the first time the truckster, or rather the grocery go getter, as Kristina liked to call it, was used to surf on. Aaron reminded me of numerous surfing excursions. That was a great car, wish I still had it, we could probably fit all the reunion attendees in it. I can't remember how many people we managed to cram in there once but I was thinking it was around 20.
As for the Applings, Laura, I think they split up but I see Connie walking to Youngs every afternoon around 4:00. So I am sure she would be available to hire for stripping.
Ahhhhh, Air Supply. Do you all remember that all it took to hold a junior high party was the Air Supply tape and a boom box. Actually, I think at some of those parties that Air Supply was the only tape played the entire evening.
As for the E-Z Stop, it is still here and you can still get a chuckwagon and all that stuff. They actually cook food in there now too. But I made the tragic mistake of running in there to grab something for lunch yesterday on my way to a meeting in Dodge. I guess I should have picked up some Alka Seltzer with that!!!
I have a bunch of stuff from high school. Actually, I still have my Pink Ladies coat from the Grease musical. Kristina's daughter wore it a few years back for a Halloween costume. I also have all those Coyote pack shirts and stuff. It is all tucked away in a trunk in our extra bedroom. I have all my yearbooks and stuff too but those are up in the attic. Maybe while I am "working from home" today I will have a chance to drag it out.
