Carol Dorn Sanders

I graduated from Campbell in 1986 with a degree in broadcast/journalism. I worked as a reporter for the Sun-Journal and WCTI-TV in New Bern and then headed into public relations. I worked in PR/Marketing in the healthcare industry for 15 years and got a master's in communications along the way.

In 1989, I married my former science camp counselor from Appalachian State, and we had our only child, Corey, in 1991. (I cannot believe he is about to graduate!) George and I divorced in 1993. I re-married a ship captain, Jeff Sanders, in 1996. He has three children, who are all educated, grown, and married now. And both of his girls are pregnant and due within a week of each other in November 2009!

In January 2006, I launched a motivational greeting card and gift business for athletes and coaches called Rock On Inc. (Rock On Cards and Gifts). We currently sell to more than 180 retailers in 30 states and Canada, including sporting goods, outdoor, running, and other sports specialty stores.

We enjoy staying active--cycling/spinning, running, swimming, hiking, playing tennis, gardening, traveling, etc.

Some of my fondest memories: the yearbook staff with Mama Bear, cheerleading, and Junior/Senior weekends. As the mother of a high schooler, I think often about great teachers like Whit, Juanita, Mrs. Bear, Faye Heath, and Ms. Hodges.
