As most will remember, met my sweet heart, Lucille Thompson, while in high school.
After High School, worked for two years with Architect Jack Carey in Kinston, designing amoung other things the original Community College.
Went back to school at Cambell College as an extension of NC State to get into the School of Architecture. Changed to Physics and Math as a major and graduated from ECU. In my senior year married my sweet heart, Lucille.
Was hired by DuPont in Kinston as a Technical Engineer one year prior to graduation. Worked there as an Engineer and Technology Manager untill retirement, resisting relocation to other sites and Wilmington, Del. Primary impact was the application of computers to the automation of complex processes, including leading the computer effort on the most automated yarn plant in the world and the computerization of the first Dacron plant in China. Early in that career, had two sons, Brad III and David. Spent week-ends at Minnesott Beach with my parents, both now passed away.
After retirement to Minnesott Beach, became heavily involved in the Minnesott Golf and Country Club. At times Treasurer and later President, lead the Club in a major set of upgrades, including the design and construction of the new Pool Building, Upgraded and expanded Club House Facility, added paved cart paths and mew Champion Bermuder greens. Seven years of hard work for no pay.
Now I've retireed from the CC activities all except golfing, enjoying the new dining and social facilities and the many friends that have developed there.
