Lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 14 months while Curt was still in the army and was a transcriptionist at the Alaska Clinic. I worked at the Klemme Coop as Executive Secretary for 5 years and then raised my children with part-time jobs at Slippery Elm, at Jean & Tim Nutz' TJJJ's restaurant, and then accompanying at the Jr High in Klemme, which I still do for both Belmond/Klemme and Garner/Hayfield. I've been a 4-H leader and still helping with the Hancock County Fair. I went back part-time transcriptionist at the Belmond Medical Center for 10 years while our kids were in college, and now I am part-time piano adjunct at the Waldorf College. I've been organist/pianist/choir director for youth and adults at Klemme UCC and now at the Belmond Methodist Church, as one of three directors, and Curt sings tenor.

School Story:

Many great memories - too much to share!!! Do you remember the Jr Hi/High School split pea soup food fight (they never served it again!!!! - did you have to scrub down the walls?), wearing "greenies" for PE and having to do the "crab-walk" up and down the hallways? Remember spinning quarters and rings during study hall in the lunch room and endless games of "Pounce". Remember memorizing all those WWI or II planes in Mr. Hamilton's World History class or getting Mr. Hall off on a different subject to use up 30 minutes of class. Our class had the first "breakfast" after Prom at my house. I was surprised what guys volunteered to help make scrambled eggs, etc. - maybe after they broke the lights above the pool table, but my parents just laughed and understood. (And I really did not know about my "surprise" Senior-year birthday party. I guess someone slipped while talking near me at the game, and I didn't hear it!!! Everyone thought I knew, but I didn't and I was mad Curt wanted to go home early after the game and not out to eat!!!!) We had great times decorating floats and windows for Homecoming. We were stopped by the town cop for too many in my station wagon and hanging out the windows "scooping the loop" in Klemme and doing "fire drills" at the stop lights. Oh - and can't forget those great rollerskating parties can we?
