Comments/Life Story:
Dwayne and I have been happily married for 21 years since January 1988. He's worked for Ford Meter Box for 22 yrs. I worked for Wabash MPI beginning as receptionist, then Jr. Buyer for Purchasing, then Customer Service in sales for 16 yrs until I went part-time for 4 more years in 2004.
We were blessed with our son Andrew in October 2002 and then blessed with Morgan in September 2004 after a very long wait! :-) Andrew was 18 months old when I began working part-time (1) day a week in the office and then Morgan was born 5 months later.
After a year of staying home caring for my babies, I decided to go back to school. I decided to go into the medical field for higher pay, more job security and I was looking for a rewarding & challenging career. Andrew was 3 and Morgan was 1 when I decided to become a Radiologic Technologist in Radiography.
I attended Ivy Tech beginning Fall 2004 taking my pre-req's a few classes at a time while still trying to care for my family. That in itself was a "challenge"! In the Spring, 2008, I finished all my pre-req's and applied to 3 different Radiography programs which are very hard to get into. We prayed and trusted God to place me where HE wanted me to be. He answered! I got into all three; Community East, Indianapolis, Ivy Tech in Marion and St. Vincent Health/St. Joseph Hospital, Indianapolis/Kokomo.
After alot of praying, I felt led to St. Vincent/St. Joseph's program. I began full-time in the program August 4, 2008. I definitely made the right choice! I love it there! I have to drive to Indy for class, mostly 1 day a week, then clinicals and 1 more class day in Kokomo the rest of the week. I've made some wonderful new friends and the staff is very helpful and nice. It's very challenging and rewarding and x-rays are so cool once you know how it all works! Its definitely a skill and an art to get the right view. This summer, I'll start my Surgery rotations at St. Vincent in Indy as well as Peds rotations at Peyton Manning's Children's Hospital as well as a few smaller hospitals. I'm sure summer will go fast!
Currently, I have 3 weeks to go to end the 2nd semester and I'm ready for a 2 week vacation before starting semester 3! Andrew finishes Kindergarten also. So, Dwayne, the kids and I are heading to Florida to Liki Tiki Resort & Disney World for 2 weeks!
We are all looking forward to my Graduation Day on Friday, June 4, 2010!
