Hi Old Friends ! After attending college at CSUF in Orange County, I headed back to the midwest (Chicago) for graduate school. I continued east to New Jersey when I landed at position at Rutgers Medical School. After seven years there..... East Stroudsburg University (located in NE PA) gave me an offer I couldn't refuse and while there, I directed the MPH graduate program, the Public Health Certificate Program, and the Institute for Public Health Research and Innovation. Worked there for 25 years. Looking for a career capstone... I moved to the Mountain West... In 2016, I joined the faculty as a Professor of Public Health working in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Starting in mid-2019, I began a phased eventually retiring in July, 2023. I continue to golf, have picked up guitar again in this stage of my life, write songs about social issues, and coordinate music and art festivals that have a mental health education component.
Married to Deirdre (HS English teacher; now retired) since 1989. We have two children, Lindsay (age 32, as of this post) who is faculty member (lecturer of photography) at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and Ryan (age 28), who is an officer in the US Navy, and stationed in Japan.
