HIXSON Henry H. "Chip" Hixson, III, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2011, at Forest Hills Center. Chip was born September 12, 1945 in Highland Park, IL to Henry H. Hixson, II and Lois Schultz Hixson. Chip blessed many people in his lifetime. He was driven by pursuit of academic achievement, not only for himself, but providing opportunities for others. After graduating from Hanover College in Hanover, IN, Chip earned two masters degrees as well as a doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University. He held positions at Hanover College, the Mansfield campus of The Ohio State University, and retired as vice president of development at Ohio Northern University in 1994. He was a member of the Rotary Clubs of Mansfield, OH, Madison, IN, Ada, OH and Columbus, OH; the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce and an early director of the Economic Education Foundation of the Mansfield/Richland Chamber of Commerce; member of the Ohio Humanities Council and Worthington Presbyterian Church. Chip was an avid tennis player, lover of tradition and chocolate. Chip was very determined to provide for his family and instill strong family values in his children. Family picnics and vacations were the priority. His children, Hal and Jane, were his pride and joy. His wife, Marilyn was the love of his life. Grandchildren, Mikayla and Alivia were beacons of light. Chip made many, many friends in Chicago, Hanover, Mansfield, Ada and Columbus. Always outgoing and willing to help people, he will be missed by many. Chip is survived by wife, Marilyn Meese Hixson; children, Hal Hixson of Columbus and Jane (Scot) Erbe of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, Mikayla and Alivia Erbe; sisters, Lin (Matthew Goulish) Hixson of Chicago, and Susan (Vicente) Mas of Laguna Beach, CA; step-siblings, Dick Pither and Margaret Pither of North Brook, IL and Penny (Rick) Osgood of Nashville, TN; father-in-law, Robert B. Meese of Mansfield, OH. Chip's family wishes to thank Dr. Douglas Scharre and the staff of Forest Hills Center for their care and kindness. And a special thank you to Dr. Sandra Kostyk and the staff at The Ohio State University. Friends may call at SOUTHWICK-GOOD & FORTKAMP FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3100 N.
