Melinda Ford Bourne, 59, of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away on Monday April 24, 2017 after a courageous and protracted battle with cancer. Born December 17, 1957 in Burlington, Vermont, she was the daughter of Geraldine K. Ford and the late Roland M. Ford. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Malcolm Graham Bourne III; two sons, Malcolm Bourne IV and Tyler Bourne; and three daughters, Megan Bourne, Amanda Bourne, and Paige Bourne. Melinda was a long time resident of Lake Forest, where she returned to work and start a family after graduating from Vanderbilt University. Melinda was a driven business professional at Hewitt Associates before taking on her greatest role of full time homemaker to her family of five children. She was passionate about gardening and flower arrangement, and was an incredible cook with a contagious smile. She contributed her time and boundless selflessness to a number of organizations in and around Lake Forest where her talents shined. When diagnosed with cancer in 2013, she remained dedicated to her work, unwilling to let her disease dictate her life. Her will to fight her illness was immeasurable and her bravery throughout her final months never wavered. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest.
