Alisha- Sorry to hear about your dad...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Drop me a line when you can and we'll be thinking about you in June but if you do get a chance to "drop in" for a moment, please do! I'm sure all of us would like to catch up and see what you've been doing. Talk to you soon!
Cheers...

Oh My!!!!!! Dude everyone needs to see the class pictures that Bo (Elizabeth Denison) posted on her profile. Man most folks you can tell who is who even way back then. Talk about a walk down memory lane. I had forgotten how many of us have grown up together our whole lives. Crazy stuff huh? Check them out guys it really is a lot of fun looking at those! Some of us were cute, and some of us (like me) were in our ugly duckling stage. Wish I would have grown out of my ugly duckling stage. Oh well, without ugly ducklings the world couldn't appreciate the swans!! You're welcome swans!! Glad I could help out! Hee!Hee!

You guys are cracking me up! I think I need to get some pics of all the West Main kids from my mom. I don't know if I could figure out the scanner though. ;) I am not too technical.
Can't wait to see all of you that can come. I am so glad the Michelle built this site. We are going to have so much fun!

Hey Elizabeth those pictures are crazy! They brought back some memories such as Mrs. Maddox (1st grade) giving me my first and last paddle (with holes in it) ever! I remember needing to go to the restroom in Mrs. Griffin's class (2nd grade) and she wouldn't let me so I stood in front of her desk during class and relieved myself right in front of her...LOL! after which I was sent to the office. I remember having to make clay dinosaurs for 3rd grade (for the record Mrs. Amyx was my fave teacher of all time. Mr. Galbreath runs a close second). Mrs. Todd was my 4th grade teacher and we made salt maps. Lastly, Mrs. Pruitt (I think it was Mrs. Pruitt) was my 5th grade teacher and that's the year we had to memorize all of the presidents. Not bad huh? Anyone else? I'm going to have to get with my father and see if he has my old school photos. I do have an old softball team picture as well. I think it was taken while we were in Jr. High. Unbelievable that it's been 26-27 years since elementary school let alone 20 since high school. Where did all the time go?

oh man, licks in 1st grade, I'm there with ya! I got my first and last licks from Mrs. Knott (or miss snot as we liked to call her). I remember Mrs. Amyx too. I think she was my favorite teacher too. I liked Mrs Pruitt as well, although she was kinda kooky sometimes. Don't forget Mr. Gillespie (sp?) the PE teacher. No wonder we called him Mr. G! I wonder if he would still be as tall to us now as he was to us back then?? hahahaha Remember the 'Earth Ball' and the little red scooters? What about doing the play spoof of the dukes of hazzard, it wasn't called that though but something similar. I remember we were riding tricycles around the stage as the general lee. I can't believe I can remember all this stuff cuz i can't even remember what I had for lunch yesterday! hahahahaha

I would like to put my two cents in concerning the movie "Fireproof". We took several couples (about 20)to see it on opening weekend. It was excellent!! I know it does not have a well-known director and the only "famous" actor in it is Kirk Cameron, but it is definitely a 'must-see'. Whether you have a decent marriage, or are struggling a bit, or you are single, see this movie. As Angie said, you'll laugh, cry, scream, etc. Coming out on DVD at the end of January, for those of you who can't find it in the theater.

OH MY GOSH!! The Lukes of Buzzard...I haven't thought about that in years...how funny. Mrs. Myers class in the 4th grade and her playing that old 45 record of Cow Pattie...now I really do feel my age.

12/11/08 01:46 AM #50

Angela Arie (Conrad)

Dude, just so you know Mr. G doesn't seem as tall now that I am grown up. Get this--my mom was umpiring a softball game (surprise, surprise) and she either ejected Mr. G or threatened to eject him from a game. If I remember correctly, Mr. G and this other guy where about to come to blows, and my short mama jumped in between the two of them, and looked up at one and then the other and said, "You sir are out of this game, and you sir are out of this game." My dad told her don't you ever jump between 2 guys about to go at it. She said she wasn't scared. I didn't know if that had to do with the fact that she knew Mr. G or not.
MRS. MYERS ALL TIME BEST TEACHER HANDS DOWN!!!!
I agree with Julie about the Cow Patty song. . .Yippee, Yia, Yeah Cow Patty. I remember how fun she made everything. It didn't feel like learning it was going to a party everyday. Oh the many marks I got, in every grade, for--talks too much--what a shocker!! Mrs. Myers, Mr. Galbreath, Mrs. Edwards(kindergarten Pleasant Run--anyone else remember her? She was great), Mrs. McElroy, Mrs. Russell those are the ones that stick out the most to me.
-Anyone up for a "BOOGER LAP?" Those were killer!! I think about it now and can almost get out of breath. What about field day!?! Snow cones, relay races, obstacle course races, etc.
-Does anyone remember when the gym/lunch room was infested with crickets? They would be piled around both doors that exited outside up near where we went into the kitchen. YUUUUUCK!!!
I remember my first kiss behind the dumpster at Pleasant Run. I don't remember the grade, but I do remember the person. If you happen to read this and remember the kiss too, send me a personal message about it. We can just keep that memory on the DL.
Stephanie--you are such a rebel, but I can't say as I blame you. My son has issues sometimes with #2 and I have told him if you really have to go, don't hold it, you go on to the bathroom and you tell your teacher your mom said for you to go and they can take it up with her. Poor thing holds that too long and gets backed up. Sorry to be so graphic, but all you moms understand. We have to stand up for our kids. They rush those poor babies around so much--can't do anything in a slow fashion. I told the school when my daughter started kindergarten, that rushed lunch time was my biggest complaint. We all did it when we were in school too and I think it helped contribute to why I have 2 BACKSIDES instead of one.
I remember making one, and only one, trip to Mr. Delong's office, not to be confused with Mr. Long(the janitor), it was awful. I cried and cried and didn't even get licks. I had helped spread a rumor about someone and I still feel guilty sometimes. I have a big problem with guilt.
By the way everyone, how about some more funny pics like that. These stories are GREAT!!! I have several pics of several of us from kindergarten, but I am afraid to put any on here yet, as some might kill me, or better yet put some of mine (not group shots) in here. Yikes!!!!
Didn't mean to write our entire school memoirs. Just got going and the momentum took me! Let's hear some more!!!

12/11/08 10:51 AM #51

Elizabeth Denison (Henkel)

Angie, I think you have a photographic memory. I can't compete with that! haha I do remember 'booger laps' and the cross country was worse - all the way around the outside of the fence and all the way around the school. No wonder I hate to run now. hahaha That's funny about your mom, I can see her doing that, she's tuff!!

12/12/08 12:55 AM #52

Amy Ruiz (Rendon)

Ok, Ok, all this talk about Pleasant Run has made me so nostalgic. Elizabeth, I can't believe you still have those class pictures!! They brought back so many fond memories. How we all hung out at the Monkey Bars on the playground, and also the swings. I LOVED the Cow Pattie song that Mrs. Meyers sang to us. And part of the chorus said "Hell" and she forgot that was part of the song. She was mortified and we thought we were so cool for listening to a song with "hell" in it...ha ha ha..I also remember our blue choir tshirts we wore to the Sandy Lake choir contest. We sang Rainbow Connection by Kermit The Frog!!

12/12/08 10:12 PM #53

Julie Needham

Hey Amy, you're right...she was completely mortified. The real question though is how many people still remember the words to "Rainbow Connection"? What was the music teacher's name? Now I have to go look for that class picture...I think I might still have it somewhere.

12/12/08 11:25 PM #54

Angela Arie (Conrad)

The music teacher's name was Mrs. Moon. I remember that Sandy Lake Park trip, those blue shirts, and some of the words to Rainbow Connection.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what's on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions (not sure about this next line)of something we can not hide. Boy, I am losing it now. I thought I could remember it all, but the verses are getting jumbled up. I remember another line.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers, and me. All of us under its spell we know that it's probably magic.
Bo, I had forgotten about the cross country. And of course, Mr. G would always pick the fastest runner in the class to be the chaser and no matter how far of a head start we got the chaser would still pass a lot of us and then we had to run another one. That was the pits!
Amy- do you remember when you lived around the corner from me and you had those chickens? You asked me to come over to see them and I did reluctantly. We stood outside you fence and looked at them, and you said let's go inside and sit on the top of the swing set and see them. I was still uneasy, but we did. I quickly got on top of the swing, while you went over, picked one up, then came back over to me and through him up toward me. Between that and what my dumb dogs used to do to Leann Ryles chickens, I am deathly afraid of chickens. I mean crazy scared of chickens. I won't go around them and I won't eat chicken off the bone. My friends all laugh at me being chicken of chickens, but I don't care. I know it is stupid, but oh well, I'm OK with that. I am also deathly afraid of mice. I have a hysterical story to tell about me and a mouse that was in our house once. I was absolutely petrified, but I know a lot of people think it is hysterical. So I tell it and everyone gets a good chuckle, and I'm OK with that too. I like this going down memory lane stuff!
I kept in touch with Mrs. Myers for a long time after high school, but I lost touch with her. I think I can make one or two phone calls and get back in touch with her. Wouldn't it be cool if she could come by the reunion?
Hey Michelle, and planners is that allowed? Teachers I mean. I guess we could invite them to the dedication ceremony if nothing else, huh.?.
Later dudes!

Hey Bo! Those pics are so wrong!! lol!!!..guess I need to dig through my stuff and put it on here. I have some from Houston school. Bo, we didn't need the pic of the cardinals..lol...those were great.

I found 'em. I put up some new class pics from way back in the day. Kinda scary they are.
Angie, if you can find Mrs. Myers, I would like to have her address so I can send her a letter.

12/14/08 04:10 PM #57

Amy Ruiz (Rendon)

Julie-Thanks for posting that jewel of a picture. I'm frightened by the overalls I was wearing, as well as the white socks with sandals. 4th grade was my favorite year at Pleasant Run because of Mrs. Myers.
Angie-Yes I remember terrorizing you with my chickens. I'm sorry that I ruined chicken for you! I remember you turning white as a ghost though, all in good fun..lol!!

12/15/08 05:17 AM #58

Angela Arie (Conrad)

Amy-no prob--my husband, folks, and friends up here enjoy teasing me about it, so I am glad I can help them out with some good material.
Jewels-I will make a couple of phone calls tomorrow or the next couple of days and see if I can track down Mrs. Myers. I think it would thrill her to know how many of us think so much of her and appreciate the impact she had on our lives.
Later dudes.

Julie--I had not scrolled down far enough on your profile to see the pic of our class with Mrs. Edwards. Boy, you dug down in the depths for that one huh? I have some individual pics from that year and I think the next year. I have got to get my pics scanned and posted. I need to get with my mom and see if I have any class pics. For some strange reason, I don't think I do. I need to get copies of some of you guys' pics to keep for my kids to laugh at later.

Angela Arie (Conrad)

Can anyone help me out here, my brain is evidently on the blink. I know Mrs. Edwards was kindergarten, Mrs. Knott(Snott) was 2nd grade, Mrs. Amyx was 3rd, Mrs. Myers was 4th, Mrs. Sanchez was 5th, who was my first grade teacher, and does anyone have a class pic of that year? Or Mrs. Sanchez' class pic? I got her confused with Mrs. Pruitt when you guys were talking about her. Who was Mrs. Pruitt? I seem to remember her having red hair and liking green? Or at least wearing a green dress, but I still don't know who she was. HELP ME PLEASE. . .I must be getting OLD. . .I can remember things.

12/15/08 12:49 PM #61

Elizabeth Denison (Henkel)

I had Mrs. Roby for first grade and I only remember that because I also found my report cards for elem school. I don't remember her or too much about 1st grade or kinder for that matter. I don't have that class picture tho, sorry, I know everyone is so sad about that! ;)
Sorry about the cardinals picture, Bev. I have an even older one somewhere, want me to post that one?!?!?! hahaha

12/15/08 08:55 PM #62

Stephanie Neroes

Well, I've just been reminded that I actually had Mrs. Myers for 4th grade and Mrs. Todd for 5th grade. Mrs. Pruitt must have been my brother's 5th grade teacher. I had Mrs. Maddox for for 1st grade. And, those class pictures are awesome! LOL How about the lunches? My favorite day was Thursday! Rolls and jelly :D YUMMY!

12/16/08 12:25 AM #63

Julie Needham

Ok...now I am having flashbacks and remembering things.
Amy, glad I could accomodate you with the frightening overalls picture, I was actually cracking up when I found thinking about how happy you would be to see it.
Angie, I appreciate the effort in trying to track down Mrs. Myers.
Steph, I had Mrs. Maddox for first grade but don't have a clue where that class picture is, maybe in another box somewhere. That was also the year she went on maternity leave and we had a sub...Mrs. Wagner I think.
I went to West Main for 5th grade, but I do remember either Mrs. Pruitt or Mrs. Sanchez busting into our classroom in 4th grade screaming about the gas leak. Anyone else remember that?

12/16/08 07:36 AM #64

Angela Arie (Conrad)

Julie-don't really remember the gas leak, but Mrs. Sanchez busting in and screaming about something wouldn't surprise me. She watched me like a hawk cause my jerk of a brother paved the way for me to be pre-judged about how I was going to be. Thanks bro! I have already made a phone call today, but haven't heard back yet. Do you want her phone number, email, snail mail, or all of the above?
I remember the name Mrs. Maddox, but I don't remember if she was my teacher or not. Does anyone remember if there were any other 1st grade teachers at Pleasant Run? If not I guess she was my teacher. I can't remember what she looks like. I keep visualizing Mrs. Amyx and Mrs. Edwards. Seems like there are good feelings around that name. Help me out anyone. I hope someone finds that class pic.

12/16/08 05:45 PM #65

Amy Ruiz (Rendon)

Angie-My 1st grade teacher at Pleasant Run was Miss Helene. I LOVED her. Unfortunately I can't find my class pictures. Maybe you had her also??
Julie-You are cracking me up. Yes, I remember the gas leak. I want to say it was Mrs. Pruitt that busted in but my memory isn't near as sharp as ya'lls. But we really got a kick out of that, laughed for quite awhile. We were probably high on gas as well...
Stephanie-LOL I forgot about the roll with jelly! But as any true Lancaster Tiger, my favorite was Tiger Burger Friday. Very scary to think what was actually in those..but man were they good.
