Theodore Frank-Henry Egleston
JANUARY 3, 1939 – FEBRUARY 3, 2019
Ted was born in Lansing Michigan on January 3, 1939, son of Mildred and Frank Egleston. He attended Eastern High School, graduating in January, 1957. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. One of his greatest joys was an annual fishing trip to Orr, Minnesota. He loved cats and dogs and had many over the years. He read voraciously and had extensive knowledge of World War II history in particular; an interest he developed from his uncles who served and whom he deeply admired. He started every day solving crossword puzzles. His hobby in his younger years was building and flying model airplanes of which he had many. He was a successful businessman, both as a small business owner and as an employee, traveling the world for the Bliss Corporation designing, selling, and servicing presses. Ted was loved and admired by those who knew him, a family man, mentor, teacher, confidant, and friend. He was generous with his knowledge, teaching generation after generation of fishermen. He always gave of himself and of what he had to others, particularly to those in need. He lived in Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Indiana but he was always home in the company of friends and family. He loved to visit, tell a tale and share a hearty laugh. Always a great storyteller, you could spend an evening playing cribbage or Euchre together and travel to countries from Mexico to Brazil to Korea to China and never leave your seat. Measured by those he loved and those who loved him, he was a very wealthy man. Ted lived a rich and storied life, a life well lived.
Ted was preceded in death by his mother, father, step father Ansel Wells, and Linda Egleston. He is survived by his brothers, Garland (Joann Lance) Wells, Wayne (Nancy) Wells, and Sister Chloe (Jim) Ostrowski, Cousin Wilma Akright, Wife Connie Egleston, Daughters Sharon (Ken) Goodfellow, Sandra Egleston, Sons Scott (Michelle) Egleston, Steve (Colleen) Egleston, Step Daughter Heather Honey, Grandchildren Jeremy (Heather) Coffman, Justin (Kelsey) Salisbury, Jessica (Tim) Rudnitzki, Jordan Salisbury, Julia Salisbury, Theodore Rosenberg, Haley Rosenberg, Sam Egleston, Molly Egleston, and Alexander Egleston, Step Grandchildren Nic (Vicki) Goodfellow, Ethan Goodfellow, Ashby Kricheldorf, Brooks Kricheldorf, 18 Great Grandchildren, and many dear lifelong friends.
