BROWN, RICHARD WESLEY "DICK"
Age 72, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at Brian's House in Davison. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Flushing United Methodist Church, 413 East Main Street, Flushing, Rev. Jeff Jaggers officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, and also at the church Tuesday the hour prior to the service. Richard was born on November 28, 1939 in Lansing, MI to Ray and Geraldine Brown. He graduated from M.S.U. with a Masters Degree in history and started his teaching career at Whittier Jr. High in 1964. He married Ruth Ann Fassnacht in 1967 in Kalamazoo. Dick continued his fulfilling career as a history/ government teacher at Flint Central High School and retired in 1996. He was an extremely dedicated teacher who felt fortunate to be in the educational field in that era. In 2010 he received an Outstanding Teacher Award from the Flint Central Alumni Association. There have been many accolades over the years from former students, many who went on to become leaders in our community and beyond. He will be missed by his family and friends for his quick wit, his ability to express strong opinions on current events and his intelligence and strong personality. Dick loved to travel, to have the best yard and best car and cheer for the Spartans, Tigers and Red Wings. Surviving are wife, Ruth; sons, Randall (Elise) and Ronald (Beth); and grandson, Owen. Dick Brown was a member of our Foster Ave Grade School gang, and lived very near to Ken Noble. From Foster we all went to Pattengill then Eastern.
