William Robert "Bill" Coan Sr.

William "Bill" Robert Coan, Sr. Delta Township Born April 2, 1939 in Gladwin, MI, to Robert Sage and Ruth Irene (Gill) Coan, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013, at age 74. Bill graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army. Bill retired from the State of Florida as a Highway Safety Instructor. Bill enjoyed camping and traveled from Alaska to Mexico. He was a man devoted to his family and his faith. He volunteered for Eaton Community Palliative Care, Capital City Airport, the Grandparent reading program for elementary schools, and several other city and township organizations. He was a member of the Republican Party, American Legion Post 0012, and the VFW 40et 8. Bill is preceded in death by his father and his brother Michael Coan. Bill is survived by the love of his life for 53 years, Lana, his mother Ruth Coan (age 93), 6 children: Karmon (Andrew) Chupka, Robbin DeLoach, Holly (Thomas) Jansheski, April (Richard) Brown, William II (Jera), and Robert (Rosa), 12 grandchildren: Andrew and Bethany Chupka, Tiffany Boos, Neill and Landon (Hannah) Jansheski, Nick (Katie) and Bailen Brown, Mindy (Jim) Wise, Billy (Ally) Coan, Robert, Vivian and Rodrigo Coan, 7 great grandchildren: Gracie, Austin, Jacob, Conner, Jesse, Hensley and Levi and his sister, Linda (Lynn) Keep. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7000 W. Saginaw Hwy, with Pastor Roger Straub officiating. Inurnment will follow in Hillside Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Lansing VFW #701. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30AM. Condolences can be made at www.palmerbush.com.
