Delora C. (Martzke) Robson

Obituary
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Delora C. Robson, age 83, passed away in her home on Wednesday, September 29, 2022. Born on February 1, 1939, in Lansing, she was the daughter of Celon C. and Esther T. Martzke. Delora graduated from Eastern High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, David Lee Robson [known as David Bell in school] the same year on November 16. She was soon a busy mother of 3, managing home and career. Delora’s work ethic and affinity for organization and management grew her career from Woolworth’s soda fountain clerk to school secretary to what would become her favorite job, office manager, working for the Department of Natural Resources. She was always proud that, along the way, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Business from Lansing Community College. She is remembered by many as being full of life, friendly and outgoing with an endearing charm and fun sense of humor. Her passion for travel and her love for the out-of-doors made vacation planning a priority in her life. Summers were always filled with family cross-country vacations visiting the National Parks and Historic sites, and day trips to local gardens, museums and parks. In retirement, she traveled abroad, exploring her ancestral roots in Ireland, Scotland and England. She loved music and playing the piano, wandering through gardens, singing, participating in craft classes with friends, dancing, bicycling, campfires with s'mores, 4th of July fireworks, Sunday drives down country roads, and cocker spaniels, especially her Cocker Spaniels. Over the years she and David designed and built 8 homes, raised her children in Lansing and Mason, then split 20 years of their retirement between Lady Lake, Florida and Gladwin, Michigan, before building what would be their final home back in Mason, Michigan. She will be forever remembered for her zeal for life, her devotion to her family (and to her dogs), and her ability to light up a room with sparkle and fun. Delora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, of 64 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and James Blaschka; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Karla Robson; son, Michael Robson; grandchildren, Veronica Peterson, Rebecca Blaschka Diaz, Delia Blaschka Walsh, Kristopher Robson, Mackenzie Shattuck; great-grandchildren, Eva Peterson, Elise Peterson, Axel Peterson, Eoin Diaz, and Nyle Walsh. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in her honor at the 1st Church of the Nazarene, 415 E. Maple St., Mason, on Wednesday, October 5, at noon. Visitation with the family will precede the service from 10:30 AM-12 PM. The family is being served by Palmer-Bush-Jenson, in Holt. Memorial contributions may be made in Delora’s honor to the Capital Area Humane Society and the Mason, 1st Church of the Nazarene.
