(June) John L. Carver

John L Carver

John Lee Carver was born June 19, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan, and died in late July 1969 on Lake Superior.

John graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in June 1957. After graduation, he went to school to become a hairdresser, then owned and operated a hair salon in East Lansing known as Mister Johns. John married Elise Clark January 7, 1960 in Lansing, Michigan.

On a vacation in 1969, son John Lee, Jr. was left at a Boy Scout camp on the mainland while John, Elise, and youngest son, Christopher, went to Isle Royale in their boat, an 18-foot fiber glass twin hull model. After spending a few days around Isle Royale they left to go back to the mainland but were never heard from again. The Coast Guard searched Lake Superior for days but nothing was ever found. John Jr., who was left at the camp was picked up by his uncle, William Carver.
