Carol Joan Washburn 73, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on August 19, 2012 in Venice, Florida.

She was born on June 26, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Francis E. Silky and Bernice Louise Rappley Silky. Carol graduated from Lansing State Community College with an LPN degree in 1959.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Monroe Swindle of Port Charlotte, Florida; son, John H. Hawkins of Morriston, Florida; 2 daughters, Cynthia J. (Robert) Hoenig of Maumee, Ohio and Kristina I. (Karl) D'Accursio of North Port, Florida.

Grandchildren, Stacy and (Adam) Johns, Amber Hoenig, Matthew Hoenig, Shelby, Cianna, Dainyn and Karissa D'Accursio, Taylor, Cameron, Luke and Thomas Hawkins. She is also survived by her step-mother, Verna Silky of Lansing, Michigan and her step-sister, Jean Bennett of Okemos, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis E. and Bernice L. Silky and her step-brother, James Ruff.
