School Story:
On the last month of my senior year, my friends and I chose to skip school one day. It was going to be our first to skip school. But we wanted to do something out of character; after all, it was the 60's. As we started our adventure, we decided that we wanted to go to Nuevo Laredo and return to campus just before dismissal. We avoided any contact with anybody that crossed our way. As we left campus, we felt secure and confident that no one suspected or saw us leave the campus. We were determined to have our day. As far as we knew, we pulled it off--so we thought.
We laughed, giggled, talked all the way to downtown Laredo near ABC Music Store. Just around that area, we noticed a volkwagon that looked very similar to Mr. Luckey's car, our prinicipal. When we confirmed that it was indeed his car and Mr. Luckey, we paniced and at that moment, we decided to continue with our quest. After all, it was a 50/50 chance of getting caught and if our parents found out about it, we were ready to accept the consequences. And sure enough, Mr. Luckey recognized me as one of the Garza girls and called my parents; however, the other parents were not informed. Yes, I did paid for my decision, but my friends and I enjoyed that day and met some boys. As I recalled, my parents grounded me from seeing my friends and was not allowed to go the Martin High record hop, which I thought at time that, all the cute boys came from Tigerland. Yes, I did married a cute guy from Martin High.
