After Redwood, attended College of Marin, transferred to San Jose State, received my BS in Civil Engineering in 1969. Worked at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard for two years designing aircraft carriers, moved to Las Vegas and worked at the Nevada Test Site for eight years. Moved back to the Bay Area, worked in the engineering consultant business for ten years for a national company, eventually as vice president. Moved into the land development business for fifteen years as a project manager, then retired in 2004.
I say retired, but after finishing a project, took some time off and found out I liked it. Thought I would work forever; loved working, but found time to do the things never had time for during my career: piano lessons, ballroom dance lessons, golf lessons, cooking classes, etc.
Had time to be on the Peninsula Humane Society Board of Directors, last two as president, and spent lots of time sailing on the bay with my father. Also played fast pitch softball for a few years at Albert's Park in San Rafael, until tearing knee ligament. Doctor says no more skiing...
Then decided to move to Paris full time, but didn't; another story.
Now spend time reading a lot, traveling (China last year, Europe often; Paris and Berlin are my favorites), going to local plays, the opera, and playing with my new "toy", the Cobra I purchased last fall. Plan to take high performance driving lessons before my coordination and reflexes get any slower.
Mr. Bachelder's sophomore geometry class. I hope some day to thank him.
Redwood vs Tamalpias football game Thanksgiving Day 1962. The I.J. did a great nostalgia story many years later.
