After graduation I attended Gallaudet University located in Washington, DC. It is the world's only liberal arts university for the deaf and hard of hearing. It was a huge change as I was the only deaf student at Mayfield and I wonder how I survived myself for 3 years in HS without an interpreter. I obtained a BA in Business Administration in 1994 and a Masters degree in Education 2001 at Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College). Although I love NM, I fell in love with a big-city life and eventually I moved to ABQ and been living here since 2005. I have lived in Austin, TX which has one of the largest deaf community in the US where I was a teaching assistant at TX School for the Deaf for 3 years. I planned on becoming a teacher for the deaf but realized it was not my calling so I decided to return to my original degree in business and landed a job with the NM Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in ABQ as a Accessible Technology Specialist, I now work with the US Forest Service's ABQ office of Budget and Finance.
My most recent and most interesting endeavor is travel! I have always loved to travel and recently found a way to take 5 star vacations at unbelievable prices. I am now working as a consultant with an online travel company where I can take these fabulous vacations and earn money at the same time. I love it!
