Well, I enlisted in the US Marines middle of our senior year and finally left in early October for boot camp and "A" school. First assignment was to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan for one year where I sat out Desert Storm(watched it on CNN). Returned to the U.S. Summer 1992 for my second assignment to MCAS Yuma, AZ. Spent the remaining years of service in AZ, married the first wife in 1994 and had my son Christopher in 1995.
After an honorable discharge in Oct 1996, We moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where my first wife was from. Spent a year finding my place in the "civilian" job market, until we decided to get out of the cold weather and move as a family, back to Las Cruces in 1997.
Finally removed my head out of my a** and I attended DABCC were I received my EMT certification in 1998, and I found my love for public service. Recruited by Family Medical Centers (Dr LaFon)and worked as a Medical Assistant and weekend Office Manager until they went bankrupt in 2000. Worked with Rio Grande Medical until 2001.
Wife decided she could'nt live in New Mexico and we moved back to Wyoming in Nov 2001. Returned to Cheyenne, found full time work as an Opthalmic Medical Technician with the VA Center and found part time work as a Firefighter/EMT with the local fire protection district(my true calling). Summer 2003, divorced first wife...Hallaluha!
Spring 2004, I decided to make a new start in Iraq as a DOD "Contract" Firefighter/EMT. Summer 2004, I met and married my second wife in Denver, while on leave, and in Spring 2005 had my daughter "Princes Kenzie"...LOL.
Remained in Iraq for a total of 3 yrs as an Assistant Fire Chief & Fire Inspector at several bases.
Winter 2007, graduated online from Pikes Peak Community College where I've obtained an Associates of Science Degree in Fire Service Administration. Hope to finish a BA in Business at CU by 2010.
Returned from Iraq April 2008 and are presently working as a Fire Inspector and Life Safety Public Educator with South Metro Fire Rescue, Centennial/Parker, Colorado
