The following was sent from Alexis Hale Ludi, widow of Phillip M. Ludi, Jr.
Phillip & I were married on August 10, 1968. We were married for 32 years, 3 months before his death on November 12, 2000. Phillip died at the age of 59 from lung cancer at the City of Hope Hospital. We were very blessed to have two beautiful daughters, Janet Lynn Ludi Curtis and Nancy Patricia Ludi Schooley. Janet Lynn and her husband Tim live in North Carolina and Nancy and her husband Mike live in Brea, California.
Phillip moved to California upon returning from the Navy. He worked for a couple companies before he became employed by Lucky/Gemco Stores. He was later employed by Albertson's who bought out the Lucky Stores entity. He was the manager of the advertising and printing department. He worked at this job for over 22 years.
Phillip was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend. His mother Mary S. Ludi (age 93) still lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She taught at West for 38 years. Phillip has two wonderful grandsons who live in Brea, California. Connor Phillip is 7 years old and Matthew Ryan is 5 years old. Although Phillip did not get the opportunity to know his grandsons, these boys are constantly told about him.

Phillip is also survived by a sister Marjorie and brother Darwin.

Mary Medina (Herrera) (1959)
I am saddened to learn about Phillip's passing. Phillip and I trudged across the Gallinas to attend Robertson High School when we became sophomores. He was always a nice quiet and very brilliant person.Mary Medina (Herrera) (1959)
Alexis: My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved, Phillip...It brought tears to my eyes to read your beautiful memories about him...He was a very good friend of mine...we went to school together since junior high through high school...and we would always compare our class notes and agonize over our test scores and grades!! His mother,Mary, was my English teacher in junior high...we became good friends when i told her that i went to grammar school in Koehler, New Mexico, a coal mining town near Dawson, where she came from...she regaled us stories about her beloved Dawson...i loved her dearly...i haven't seen her in a while but the last time i saw her, she still remembered me and my husband who was one of her very first students at West Las Vegas...I still call Phillip by his other name Morris...we used to tease him and sing out to him: "call for Phillip Morris"....he used to smile and shake his head at us...Best Regards to you and your family Mary Angela Herrera (Medina)Leonires (Marie) Aragon (Sorensen) (1959)
Alexis,I was saddened to hear about Phillip. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I remember his big smile. He was always such a gentleman. He was always ready to help anyone who needed help with their studies or any thing else. He was a caring person. I bet he is helping Our Heavenly Father with everyone in Heaven.
I attended school West Las Vegas, then my sophomore year, I transfered to Robertson High School along with Phillip and some other students.
Phillip's Mom, Mrs.Ludi was one of my favorite teachers.
I remember how she helped me with a science project I took to the NM State Science Fair. I got the only A for a project entered by a WLVJH student. Boy, I was one proud kid. Mrs. Ludi cared about all her students. She would even take us to her house for extra help with our studies. I wished I could see her to tell her "Thank You."
