My older brother Charles Leonard Monk III, crossed the bar "Fair Winds and Following Sea's" (Navy statement when a fellow shipmate has passed) on 3 September 1990 from severe asthma symptoms at his home in Alton, IL. Survived by his wife and daughter (Aaron), Mother, brothers (Me), and William, sisters, Donna and Tammy. He was active in his communtiy and a member of the Big Brother Society in Alton, IL. He graduated the same year as I did (1977) from Eldorado High School and joined the Navy with me, however he only stayed in for 4-yrs.
