James Fox Dunbar, age 80, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at home surrounded by loved ones. Jim was born June 22, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of the late Harold Leslie Dunbar and the late Elaine Mary Greenberg.


Jimmy, as he was known to his friends, was employed as a Valet at the front door of Caesars Palace for 52 years; the last day-one employee. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 66 years and served as the union steward for much of that time. He also served as a trustee of Local 995 for many years. A 32nd Degree Mason, he twice served as Worshipful Master of Daylite Lodge #44 F&AM.


He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Miriam; children Kevin Gossett, William Dunbar, Jennifer Dunbar, and James Dunbar; six grandchildren, Carolyn, Destinee, Stephanie, Daniel, Hannah, and Bryson; two great-grandchildren, Dianne and Conor; his sisters DeeAnn Edwards and Debbie Lambert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Billy Dunbar and two sisters, Sharon and Mary Alice.


All who wish to pay their respects to Jimmy will be received on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at Noon at the Masonic Memorial Temple, 2200 West Mesquite Avenue Las Vegas, Nevada 89106. Following the Funeral Service, Jimmy will be processed through the Caesars Palace front door porte-cochère in tribute to his years of service as a valet. Following the procession, he will be laid to rest at Palm Eastern Cemetery 7600 S. Eastern Avenue Las Vegas, Nevada 89123. Jimmy’s care has been entrusted to Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services.
