Thank you for reading my obituary.

I was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 2, 1937 to Jack and Shirley Metler, who were immigrants from Russia and Poland respectively. My family moved to Las Vegas when I was 10 years old. After schooling at Las Vegas High School, Woodbury College and Pasadena City College, I moved onto the University of Miami. Eventually I moved to San Francisco to start my career as a stockbroker, but moved to Reno in 1962 where I continued my work as a broker until I retired as Vice President of Morgan Stanley in 1999.

I married Kathleen Shane in 1964, and we had our daughter Kari in 1968. I was very active throughout my life. I loved hiking and backpacking the Sierras, having sailboats at Tahoe, ran and completed a marathon, played squash, and kayaked at Vancouver Island. I loved to fly fish, ski and also rode a Harley for 8 years all over the West coast post retirement. Kathleen and I traveled the world from Europe, to Asia, to Alaska and South America, and frequent trips to the Midwest to see our daughter and her family. The last 25 years were spent living between our homes in Reno and Graegle, where I was still able to enjoy hiking and fly fishing.

In my life I've loved them all"

Larry passed away peacefully in his home during the early hours of January 4th surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen, his daughter Kari, son-in-law Brett (truly a son to Larry), their two children Jack and Kaitlin, and his beloved dog, Vern. He is also survived by his sister in law and her husband, Karen and Gerald Lent, their son Brian, his wife Jennifer and their three kids Nicole, Rachel and Gavin.
