Bruce Clark

Bruce Allen Clark died at his home in Las Vegas on August 1, 2006. He was born in Yuma County, Wray, Colorado and grew up in Baker, CA where his parents built, owned and operated Hadlock's Service Station, Cafe and motel business for many years.  He attended elementary school in Baker's very small schoolhouse. Many of his adventures are recorded and noted in the historical book of Baker, CA entitled "Pilgrims In the Desert".  He received his bachelor's degree from Graceland College of Iowa in 1960. He lived in Minden, Wellington and Gardnerville, NV at various times.  Bruce loved sports, especially football, and had been a teacher and tennis pro. Following college he was a member of the Kansas City Rivals semi-pro football team. He taught school in Missouri, Puerto Rico, Covelo, CA, Carson City, Boise, ID and Las Vegas.  Most positions included a variety of coaching jobs.  He competed in the 1996 Senior Olympics in Boise ID and captured four medals.  He held several jobs, including the Director of Admissions for Tarkio College in Missouri.  He was co-owner of Century 21 Clark Properties Real Estate in Gardnerville.  He loved raising horses, mules and cattle and co-owned several ranches in Northern Nevada. He was married to Barbara Dexter Clark, class of 1955.  He had 7 children (2 boys and 5 girls), 18 grandchildren (4 boys and 14 girls), and one great-granddaughter.  He is buried in Walton's Cemetary in Carson City, NV.
