Carol Goddard (Fitzgerald)

Carol Goddard (Fitzgerald)

Carol retired as a U.S. District Court Clerk in Las Vegas in 1995, after a distinguished 30 year career.  She was well-known for her protective loyalty to the federal judges who were her bosses and when it came to "her" judges, she was as fiercely protective as a mother bear with cubs.  She joined the clerks office in 1965 as a deputy clerk.  In 1976, U.S. District Judge Roger Foley appointed her clerk.  Her responsibilities included the federal courts in Reno as well as Las Vegas.  She was a past president of the National Clerk's Association and chair of many committees.  She passed away on October 26, 1996, less than a month after our 40h reunion, where we all signed a card wishing for her recovery.  She had two sons and four grandchildren.
