Jane Wong

Jane Wong Barker was murdered in May, 1972.  Her husband, Anthony Barker, had reported her murder.  At trial, he testified he and his wife were abducted by an unfamiliar black man and forced to drive to a desert area outside Las Vegas where they were robbed, his wife murdered, and Barker shot in the leg.  The State’s theory was that a friend of Barker’s had agreed to kill Jane for a share of certain insurance proceeds, making the incident look like robbery by superficially wounding Barker.  Tony Barker was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.  In 1998, the State Parole Board rejected his application for a reduced term.
