For me, St. Andrews was wonderful! We worried about the challenges and difficulties of academics and thought that phase of life was tough. Little did we realize how much more challenging life would become after college!
St. Andrews gave me an excellent education, lasting memories, fantastic friends, and a wonderful wife!

After earning my Masters degree in 1968, Clara & I returned to Williamsburg, Virginia where I joined my family Business, Shirley Pewter as Retail Operations Manager, and, ultimately President of the company. We enjoyed the good fortune of a growing business and expanded in many directions including retail, wholesale, manufacturing and website sales. I sold the business in August 2009 and retired to manage our real estate holdings and spend time with the grandchildren. Over the years, I've been involved in many worthwhile community organizations. I served as a Director of the Williamsburg Jaycees and Fund Drive Chairman & President of United Way. I served as President of our local Retail Merchants Association and Treasurer of the Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce. I have been a Deacon & an Elder in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and I am a member of our local Rotary Club. Currently I serve on the Board of Directors of Chesapeake Bank, the Williamsburg Land Conservancy, and a Continuing Care Retirement Community known as Williamsburg Landing. I love being actively involved in the community and retirement will give me more time to pursue other interests (including improvement of my golf game!) Since the sale of our business, Clara & I have done lots of traveling. In the last 6 months, we've toured New York City, Disney World, Sedona, Az, the Grand Canyon, and Los Cabos, Mexico! I'm looking forward to our next reunion!
