Pamela Tapper-Luckel, 60, of Le Mars, died Friday, June 27, 2014 at St. Luke's / Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City.
Pamela Ann Tapper was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Sioux City, to Elmer and Norma (Thomas) Tapper. Pam was raised in Merrill and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1971. Following high school, Pam attended and graduated from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City with a degree in art.
In 1979, Pam began her 35-year career with TurPak in Sioux City. For many of those years she worked as the operational manager.
Pam was united in marriage to Michael Luckel on Oct. 11, 1986, at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill.
In 2006 Pam and Mike established L Country Trucking in Le Mars.
Pam and Mike enjoyed traveling, having been to the Hawaiian Islands and the Bahama's several times.
She enjoyed her horses Oly, Sven, Buck, Dime, and her cat Sonny. Pam and Mike also enjoyed their King-shire horses.
She was an awesome cook and enjoyed sharing the Christmas spirit with family and friends. Most of all, Pam will be remembered as a great wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Michael, of Merrill; a daughter, Tiffany Luckel and her fiancé Luis Valenzuela, of Sioux City; two step-sons, Jon and Justin, of Allen, Neb.; five grandchildren: Isaac, Wyatt, Cole, Analisa, and Elizabeth; four siblings: Thomas and Michele Tapper of Granville, Patti and Arven Koopmans, of Ireton, and Cynthia and Tim Sudbeck, of Kingsley; special friends, Bob and Eliesa Hoffman, of Merrill, and cousin Matt Hoffman, of Merrill.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Norma (Thomas) Tapper; a nephew Dustin Koopmans; parents-in-law Donald and Rita Luckel; in-laws: Pat Luckel and Marcia Luckel.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill with Pastor Bert Burwell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service, all at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
