Pauline Howard (Edmondson) (1970)

It feels so wrong to know you are no longer here.  We had just come back from England where I had my sixth birthday and moved into our new house across the street from you and your family.  You were five, but turning six a few months later.  We were best friends the moment we met.  We did everything together.  We played, rode bikes, made puppets and invited all the neighbors to a puppet show that we forgot to show up for (big oops), went to church, school, your Uncle Charlies swimming, rode other people’s ponies, got our own horses and rode almost everyday for years, went to the Armory and Methodist Youth dances, we totally grew up together.  Then you got married and I went off to Georgia Southern College and we drifted apart, only seeing each other a few times after that, but still considering each other best friends.

In August 2024 I decided that I was going to ask you to come to our next Class Reunion and stay at my house while you were here, so I started trying to get in touch with you.  That’s when I found out you left this world December 29th, 2023, just two days after your 71st birthday.

Karen, thank you for being my best friend and sharing all the memories we made over the years.  May God bless you and keep you.  In due time, we will meet again.
