Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

The jealousy shown to the musical genius Mick Mars is nothing short of disgusting. I'm almost embarrassed to be associated with a discussion in which someone would knock the Mozart of our time! Having said that, let's compare Ratt and Motley Crue by the facts.

1. Band name...."Ratt" really? That is the most clever thing you could come up with? "Hey, I know, let's name ourselves after a dirty filthy disease spreading rodent!" Great move guys. "Motley Crue" I mean, how frickin awesome is that?!? It's descriptive as well as being cleverly misspelled with the added german umlauts (which I can't replicate here) for an extra dose of badassness! Advantage Crue.

2. Signature Song. "Way Cool Junior" and "Shout at the Devil"....advantage Crue.

3. Lead Singers. Stephen Pearcy who cannot pronounce a hard E to save his life. Stephen, it's ME...not MAY...or Vince Neal, who even though he looks like a human sausage and still can't sing for shit, you can tell just by looking at him that back in the day he had many more cases of VD/CRABS etc that SP....advantage Crue.

4. Bobby Blotzer or Tommy Lee. We've all see the TL and Pam Anderson video....advantage Crue.

5. Warren DeMartini and Mick Mars. Warren made the HS version of me look muscular. Mick on the other hand has one of the best ever made up names of a rock star and he gets more ladies than he can handle whilst looking like cousin IT's ugly brother. Advantage Crue.

6. Ratt had Robin Crosby.....Motley did NOT have a member named after a homoerotic superhero sidekick..advantage crue.

7. Juan Crucier...Ratt had him, Crue didn't. Advantage Crue.

I could go on and on, but what is the point, it's a clean sweep.

Brendhan, you're not foolin' may. BTW, that was VERY funny. I've always been a big fan of your fiction.

Hey Tom - pretty sure you were listening to Dougie Fresh and shit before Brendhan came along right? Soooooo, you're pretty much new here. Please post accordingly.

Lee, I was into EU Freeze get it right. I took the young lad under my wing to make him feel welcomed. The kid from Florida may have never turned into the legend known as " Brendy " had it not been for me. I believe I also saved you from a life of of sitting at home by yourself on Friday nights.

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Ok, time to set some records (pun intended) straight. First, I am a historian, not a fiction writer. If I say it was one way, that's the way it was. Seriously, you've known me for 25 years and you have not figured out that I'm never wrong? WTF?

Second, let me tell you how the scene went with Tom's musical education in the early fall of 1984.

Tom "What is that insanely badass music you are listening to?"

Brendhan "Um, it's Motley Crue Shout at the Devil. What do you listen to?"

Tom. "Err, umm, ah, umm, a little Fat Boys, Curtis Blow, you know the classics."

Brendhan "Oh, I see, well that explains all the really "cool" parachute pants hanging in your closet arranged by color."

Tom "Do you think I could borrow your Shout @ the Devil tape?"

Brendhan "Sure, but I think it might be way too hardcore for you."

Tom "Dude, I used to listen to Kiss when I was a kid. I even had a Kiss lunch box. I still know all the words to "Beth!"

Brendhan "Um, ok, but don't get it to near your Fat Boys or Curtis Blow tapes, as they will likely melt."

Tom "Cool thanks man. I knew dudes who had spent their pre-teen and early teen years as hard core surf punks in Florida were cool, but I had no idea they were this cool!"

Brendhan "No problem man. Just hang 10 and let the music rip on you like a Mongo wave."

Tom "Hey Brendhan, if you were surfing so much why does y our skin look like you've been living in a mine shaft since the day you were born?"

Brendhan "STFU and bring back my tape first thing tomorrow AM."

And by the next morning the musical education of T AND T (That is my little pet name for Tom as it stands for Thomas Anderson Tyler) was well on it's way....

OK, so maybe thats how it went down. Really never got into the Fat Boys but did add to the story. The pants in the closet were not parachute pants. Although I did have one pair of grey ones that where worn to the JLSMS dance back in eighth grade along with 106 of my classmates. The only piece of clothing I did have a wide variety of colors that may have been kept in some order would have been coaches shorts. A fashion statement that only I could have pulled off.

01/11/10 05:15 PM #1289

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Yes, I'm sorry it was coaches shorts. I was confused because coach's shorts and parachute pants are both made out of the same quality material, nylon. As I recall you literally had a different color pair for every day of the week. You were always a bit of a style maven as I remember you were the first person to have those "BEAUTIFUL" red-black-white Air-Jordans in 1985. Thank god I was able to turn you to the green side not long after that.

Kurt Seekford

Tom even had BROWN coaches. I ain't hatin' though, they were smooth. I can remember wwaaaayyy back in the day Tom would come into Catoctin Sports with his Grandmother and load up on the coaches, he had one pair of every color.
I think only PD had more, inclding the seldom seen long-pant coaches. I am bringing Them back. Tonight I am going to Douglas to shoot around with my coaches overtop my sweatpants like we did playing middleschool hoops!

01/12/10 11:20 AM #1291

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

I am jealous. I never owned a pair of coaches shorts. The closes I got was my mom bought my brother a pair of coaches shorts...only they were girls coaches shorts (she had no idea). You know, the kind that were only about 8 inches from your hips to the hem. Poor Liam.

01/12/10 08:04 PM #1292

Lee Presgrave

My "coaches shorts" were grey Levi's and a purple long-sleeve Puma shirt. The pants were so tight you could see my pulse.

Tom - I'm sorry but I have to give credit where it is due. Truth be told, Kurtis is the one that "asked me over" to hang out with the boys. 2nd floor, outside Clark Hansbarger's class. Remember like it was yesterday.

You didn't want to have anything to do with me until I de-cleated Eric Mitchell. Then and only THEN, was I cool enough to hang in your basement. Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative. Where else would I have learned about dandelion wine and all your sister's friends. Ahhh memories...

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Kurt was the first one of our "crew" that invited me to go BMX riding too. Those were good times jumping the hill over by the old hospital. As I remember, Tom did not like me showing off my prodigious bmx skills behind the HS in front of the girls during football practice. God, I was so cool. What happened? Oh, fall 1984, you are so far away.

Oh, has anybody heard from Robin Crosby lately....anyone, anyone? Another point to Motley Crue, they are all still alive...for now.

Just stoped in to take a look and see if we had any new post. I was reading back over some of the previous post. I love the part about Brendy being a pro BMX rider. You rember riding the bike trail that night with me and Seek and you going face first into the steel gate that blocked car access to the trail? I think you landed out in the road. I haven't laughed that hard in years.

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Tom, do I remember it? I was going as fast as I could and I was out front looking over my shoulder BACK at you when I hit that thing. I think I still have some gravel stuck deep in my face/forehead from that. I'm glad I was able to provide you with such amusement.

Speaking of which, remember that time we took our snowboards out to Brad's (His last name escapes me right now, he went to the Naval Academy after HS and was a year or 2 older than us...played tight end on the FB team I think) house out in Lucketts? We built a big snow ramp at the bottom of that huge hill and he would tow us back up with his 3 wheeler. I remember I went down the hill and hit the ramp and then I told you to wait a minute while I fixed the ramp. It was dark and far away so you could barely see me down there. Well, the ramp wasn't busted I just built a nice hard packed lip on the end so when you came down at full speed you hit the ramp and went straight up about 10 feet and landed square on your ass! Ah...good times. :)

Brad Hutton. He used to hump my wife, Kris. That goofy son of a bitch.

Kurt Seekford

Toma nd Brendy-
How about the time we went snowboarding on the hill in the back of Foxfield BEFORE a LCHS hoops game. Stupid. If I recall Tom didnt you hurt your wrist before the game?

02/03/10 08:51 PM #1301

Lee Presgrave

Tom - what about every time you'd come out to Aldie to visit me (1 time btw) and playing Dukes of Hazzard in that red Toyota? Kurt used to say it had "fried chicken" tires on it. Snow studs he could hear coming a mile away. I was emergency brake sliding LONG before these chumps and their tuners.

When you get to the creek flowing over the road, back up and turn right.

I do remember all the above events. I do remember almost dying at Brad Hutton's house. Brad and I were the left side of to o line our Jr. year when Crisp rushed for over 2000 yds. Everyone always talked about Bruce and Jeff Black but 95 % of his yards came behind us. I did almost break my wrist before that hoops game. Only had 25 pts that night because of the injury. I do recall the one time I came to Aldie and rode with Lee " Bo " Duke. That was fun. Wasn't that the truck you had that bad accident in? Good times.

02/04/10 08:52 PM #1304

Lee Presgrave

Tom - yes, that was the truck.

Yeah you did anchor that left side. All Crisp's yards: 32 dive, 34 ISO, 36 Lead, 38 Toss Sweep. Couldn't go left, everyone knew it.

Kurt - I wasn't the best communicator back then but those directions ruled.

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Ya know, in my original post I wrote "I don't remember Brad's last name, but I think he used to Hump Lee's wife in HS" but then I thought that was too strong....I should have known better in this crowd. Yes, I remember snowboarding that hill before the game...man we were tough. But, by far the best story about snowboarding @ Foxfield was when we were in college was the time we got so much snow that the whole road going up the Foxfield was a covered in at least a foot of the white stuff. Kurt had the 4x4 GMC p/u at the time and we would snowboard down the hill and Kurt would let us hop on the back tailgate and take us back up the hill. One time at the top of the hill. Kurt was doing a 3 point turn around and he got a little stuck. I know Lee remembers this cause Kurt threw it in reverse with the wheels sharply turned so that when it caught traction the front end whipped around caught Lee and threw him about 20 feet right into a hardpakced snowbank. Lees was so mad, his face was as read as his hair. Oh, man, more good times! :)

02/09/10 08:32 PM #1307

Lee Presgrave

The irony of Kurt being an insurance guy and the worst driver of ALL TIME is strong without a doubt. That son of a gun almost killed me dead that day. Any lesser man would be pushing up daisies right now.

You know he (Seek that is) had the gall to ask me what I was doing in the way?! Holy shit those "anger lessons" from Phil Arra paid off that day.
