Donald Bell Bell

After graduating from Jewell I went to graduate school in Theatre, but was about to be drafted my second year. So I joined the Air Force. I went through OTS and spent 4 years as an administrative officer, including a year in Vietnam at Bien Hoa AB. After separation from the USAF, my wife and I went back to graduate School, where I completed an MA in Counseling Psychology and eventually a Ph.D in Student Development. I spent 30+ years in higher education, mostly as a university administrator, and retired as Dean of the Business School at Pacific Lutheran University in 2004.
I have a wonderful 47 year marriage to Mae, who is feisty Texan and we have produced one wonderful daughter (Kate) who is a playwright, singer, songwriter, and arts educator in The Big Apple.

At our 50th reunion I wondered into Gano Chapel, the scene of many of my dramatic performances at Jewell. Things change. The seats are padded, the rear of the is covered with the enormous pipes of the organ. But some things don't change. The floor is still painted that dingy gray color I remember from the first time I ever set foot in that building in September 1961. That recalled to me the morning in the chapel service when I was part of a prank involving marbles and alarm clocks in the chapel service. Do you remember that morning?
