Well if I were Trump Im sure I would make something of the fact that we were drawn into a content free forum.  Just back from a 65th birthday trip to the British Open mates - absolutely fantastic time - hope everyone is having a good summer.

Steve we were thinking about going to Scotland next year.  Where did you stay and was it as cold as it looked on TV?  Alan-  What disipline of engineering did you go into?  My brother-in-law works at the lab in Los Alamos so we get near Abq. fairly often.  Maybe we stop in a have a chat.  Rich -  you still in France?  Doing what?

We stayed in Edinburgh with car trips up to St Andrews.   Wasnt too bad temp wise heavy sweater/wind breaker did the trick.  A lot of walking one of the guys counted 23K steps on day.   Scotland is beautiful though hoping to get back some day.

John - Steve - I've been to Scotland many times, and have lots of friends and relative there. As a matter of fact - I met my wife Heather at an international gathering of the clan (Clan Galbraith) and we just found out a couple of years ago that we are distantly related!  I also know quite a bit about Scottish history, and some of the best ways to see Scotland (on your own, and stay in B&Bs!). Our clan has a castle that is now a hotel in Fintry, and there is quite a bit of our personal history we know. Contact me dirrectly at Bonny-Burn-Ranch@hughes.net (Bonny Burn is "pretty brook" in Gaelic). There are 3 languages commonly spoken in Scotland - King's English, Scots, and Scottish Gaelic. For the last few decads we have raised Highland Cattle and Clydesdale horses here in east central Colorado. In fact, the Colorado Springs newspaper did a profile of us and the ranch in a recent issue - here's the link : (there is a video (turn up the sound)  that starts it, and there are a bunch of pictures as well. I'd LOVE to be abel to introduce you to Scotland! Do you know your geneology and where your "people" are from?

Contacting me by e-mail is best - I'm nearly deaf and VA 100%++ disabled after a airplane crash while I was in the USAF. LONG story!     http://gazette.com/the-country-life-a-slice-of-scotland-in-colorado/article/1513962. We are planning to go on the next trip to coincide with either the Royal Highland (Ag show - like a state fair) or the Tattoo, or when some friends there run their locomotive (real steam locos - no scale models!!)

Anyone else is free to contact me too - I'd love to hear from any of my old (emphasis on OLD!) classmates.Sorry if there has been some time between your query - we were in Texas rescueing Scottish Fold Cats (we have Scotties and Westies as well - we're all Scottish here!

Cheers - Terry

ps- After a RV trip to Dallas - I found out we'd passed within 2 blocks of John Demlow in Dallas! He and wifer Carol travel to Colorado quite a bit, and so they have stopped by the ranch twice already - after only 47 years!!!

Don't feel bad, Rich! We were all just trying to find our way. I suspect you've had so many valuable experiences since LHS which seve to overtake these very, old memories. Rest assured that you made positive memories for many of us way back then!

Bert joined the LHS 68 member site several days ago. Says he runs into Dave and Terry........

Dave McMasters passed in the 70's, Terry Madole died in a terrible car crash in 63 with several classmates returning from the Grayslakle Drive-In. That was what caused the redesign of Peterson Rd, with the train and 21 North via overpass and underpass.

I was good friends with Bert in Junior High.............

Thanks Jerry

I never really knew Bert in HS, but I got to know him and Kitty after moving back to Chicagoland in 1973- 76, when we had plenty of laughs on Friday and Sat nights, I would come up to Libertyville to visit them and my folks, I lived in Chicago's Lincoln Park area at the time. Those were good times and I was grateful for their friendship.

I'll have a cold one tonite.........Here's to you Bert!

Thanks Jerry for your update on Bert's Galliger's profile. I found his recent membership posting confusing. With regards to Dave McMasters, here is a profile on Dave I received from his sister, Kathy McMasters Varner. She and her husband, Ken Varner, live in Libertyville.

After graduating from high school, Dave entered the military and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the military he took a job with Commonwealth Edison. He died in 1976, at age 26, as a result of an accident on the job while working in Evanston IL  He was married to Ellen Marshal for 1 year at the time of his death.

She also added that Dave never lived in New Jersey as stated in the class profile.

Jerry and Steve,   Thanks for the info on Bert Galliger and Dave McMasters.  I think I have them into the In Memory section of the site.   Let me know if there is more to add or something I missed.  Headed to Libertyville for Christmas.  For those of us that dont get back often, I am sure the LHS section of 176 sees a lot of lane drifting, brake lights and other near misses as its former students go by dimly submerged in their past high school adventures.    Presuming I make it, wishing everyone Happy Holidays and a terrific New Year.

Marlene Stecki (Krein)

Marlene Stecki here.  Rich, you were one of the ones I wanted to see the most.  From what I have pieced together from other people, you have lived most of your life overseas.  I guess you are currently in France.  Did you happen to see our President there today with your President Macron?  It's really lively, politically, here in the US.  I feel that we are upon a civil war again, this time between the liberals and conservatives.  You missed a great weekend.  It couldn't have gone better, except the eggs were cold at breakfast.  We are all on the same playing field now; all of us have aches here and there, stories to tell, both good and bad, illnesses, losing loved ones, careers that may or may not have worked out.  We are all in it together.  I guess we will have another one in 5 years.  Why don't you aim for that one????

Hi Randy - I speant a l;ot of time in Seattle. Between '78 and '83. For awhile, I was up there 2 -3 times a month (I was living in LA). Mostly visiting Boeing and inspecting/approving construction of Space Shuttle stuff. Is F.X.Mcrory's still thre (resturant near Old Town) - best resturant in the world!  Had a ton of sandwiches from the wolrd famous "Caveman" by the Boeing plant.  The Caveman also smoked salmon and shipped it to every royal house in Europe and Asia.- amazingly good!  Have friends up there in University Place (just south of Tacoma), Gig Harbor & Pasco. One friend lived "aboard" a converted tug boat and he "set out" for the South Pacific years ago - have not heard from him since!. My brother's (Mike, LHS '65) in-laws used to live on Orcas Island. He (father-in-law) had been the Mayor of Evanston for a long time and I did my student teaching at Evanston High School. I have to admit - I was not a fan of the frequent rain there!  Now, We watch your area to see what we will be getting 3 days later!   Cheers - Terry

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody had iny information on a few of my long ago friends from Kenloch Ave, none of them LHS grads.

I think I saw Andy Kelly and Jimmy (O?) Hallran at the 20 yr reunion social but have lost contact with them. The other person is John Bever who lived down the street

anybody out there know about these folks?
