Elbert D. Wheeler, age 70, passed away on February 4,2021. Born on July 6,1950 to Elbert J. and Joan (O’Leary) Wheeler. Loving husband to Laura Wheeler (nee Clauson). Adored father to Matthew (Kathleen) Wheeler, Aaron (Adrienne) Wheeler, Alison (Matthew) Lockowitz, and Jena Sandness. Proud and loving grandfather to Benjamin, Grace, and Henry Lockowitz; William and Alexis Wheeler; Ricky and Jaylen Lissade. Survived by sisters Laura (Tim) VanSyckle and Shawn (Tim) Stelte. A long-standing resident of Lake County, Elbert graduated from Libertyville High School in 1968 where his children would attend a generation later. Elbert was an athlete and enjoyed rooting for the home team in all sports. He had a passion for music and collected a personal archive of favorite albums his family will cherish for years to come. Elbert was an Eagle Scout and loved nature and believed in the greater being that surrounds us all. Elbert will be remembered for his pride and love of his family and his great story-telling ability.
