In Memory

Dennis Petri

Dennis Petri

From Class of 73 Website:

On the evening of April 4th I said my last goodbyes to my beloved husband of twenty years, my best friend for thirty. As many of you already know Dennis fought cancer for 10 years plus. The fight was long, hard and at many times he endured more pain than I thought it possible for any human bare, still he fought bravely and did his best to stand the test laid before him. He will be deeply missed. Thanks to all of you whom have offered such loving condolences.

They are much appreciated. Carrie

I took pictures of him at the Northeast tour.  Little did I know it would be the last ones I would take of him.  He will be missed.

I'm 7 years late but want to share some memories of Dennis..
I knew Dennis through Jr. High and Northeast.  In Jr High we shared a beer can collection that we would move back and forth between each others house.  I still have 2 boxes of those cans in my basement.
Golf - Dennis got me into golf around grade 10 when he sold me a mixed set of clubs.  He had a job downtown in the summer that started at 11:00am so we had to be on the course at daybreak so he could be downtown by 11:00.  I would spend the night at his place and we would often be on the course while the sprinklers were still going.  Would get soaked for 2-3 holes.
Basketball -  His nickname was "Pistol Petri" given to him by "Bubba"  He had an 7-8' goal in his garage.  That was incredible fun in the winter with snow on the ground to play basketball on an 8' indoor basket.
After graduation we both left Lincoln in different directions and didn't see each other except for a couple times.
Greatly saddened to read of his passing 7 years ago.
