In Memory

Scenie Campbell (Pettigrew)

We learned of Scenie's passing from Sharon Pittman Egelhofer...who wrote:

"She was a very kind hearted young lady." I remember sitting and talking with Scenie many days during lunch break or after school. I would visit her church from time to time, traveling with my church. She gave her life to Christ when she was in grade school, and I've always remembered her as being saved. She was one of those beautiful classmates that you remember so well. She was very talented. She was a blessing to those who had a chance to get to know her. I miss running into her when I go home for a visit, and I think about her often...

We are unsure when Scenie passed away, however, Sharon believes it was from cancer.

Scenie was a beautiful, peacful spirit.  Our paths crossed again later and she shared the joy she had in being able to live out one of her dreams which was working with children.  She was gifted and always so polite and patient.  Rest well my friend.

Scenie Campbell, Pettigrew went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2009.  She had Breast Cancer.  I went to visit her while she was in the hospital, she was still giving God all the glory and praise even in her time of pain.  I prayed harder then I had ever prayed that he would heal her body and leave her here to be a testimony to his greatness, but God knew that she had served him well  and that her life, though it was brief, had been a testimony in itself.  Scenie gave her life to God when we were in Junior High School and she never looked back.  We were neighbors and we often walked home from the bus stop, our conversations would be about God and her telling me how to keep the devil off me.  She would tell me to say "Step behind me Satan".  I have used this message many times throughout my life when times get hard.

During our conversations Scenie would often talk about owning her own Day Care, she reached that goal.  She founded Fantastic Children Learning Academy.  Scenie and her husband, Anthony Pettigrew, also a graduate of McClellan, have three children, two girls and a boy.  Her son now runs the Day Care. They also have seven grand children, so as you can see, Scenie lived a beautiful and full life.  She is greatly missed and will always have a place in my heart.
