Janis Kay Morrison

Janis Kay Morrison, age 60 of Little Rock, our sweet Janis, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008 at her home in the presence of her family. Janis was known for her devotion to her husband, son, daughter, sisters, mother, grandchildren and multitudes of students. She is remembered for her humor, intelligence and selflessness. Janis was a dedicated teacher in the Pulaski County School District, winning frequent “Teacher of the Year” awards, until her retirement in 2005. She encouraged her children and her students to achieve their goals with the use of a firm but gentle hand. She set high expectations for herself as a teacher and expected no less from her students. Her children attribute everything they have accomplished to her guidance. Her grandsons will remember her for her “special breakfast”, and her granddaughter will accept no one else’s macaroni and cheese. She will be loved and missed always.

Janis is survived by her husband Gary Morrison, a son Damon Morrison of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a daughter, Shelly Morrison Spollen and her husband John, of Little Rock, Arkansas; her mother, Mollie Jackson of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters, June Jackson of Little Rock, Arkansas and Jane Jackson of Mabelvale, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Parker and Alexander Morrison of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Anna Jane Spollen of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (501-224-8300) with a private interment.

Family will receive friends Monday, March 31, 2008 at 711 LaSalle, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc., 333 Mamaroneck Avenue, #492, White Plains, NY 10605, www.carcinoid.org
