Danielle has been moved to Baptist Rehab. Brena is back at work. Barbara, Brena's mom, is down here with Danielle. I started back to work, had students Monday and today--exhausted. So...I haven't heard anything else.
Guess who is Landon's English teacher at Bryant? Dana Friend Curry. Hopefully she will sign up on the website.

I have pictures of Lions night out from the Northwest Arkansas Chapter. We had a blast. Caroline, I, my wife Renee, Gary, Darla, Karen, David, Bendi, And Wade Hopkins made it. It sure was good to see everyone!! I'm not sure how the Central Arkansas Chapter measures a good time, but this was our 1st get together up here so we didn't get much past discussing our kids. We did get a little into job's and such. We did laugh and have a good time and we would like to get together on a weekend so those that can’t find a babysitter can just bring the kids. Caroline you are a "Hoot" you kept me in stitches, any way it was a great time, can’t wait for the next one. Kim Reddin we missed you, if you miss again the next one will be at your house.

I think last night was a tremendous success. It was great to see everyone. It was great to see Wade at this event. Good job Mike on getting people together. Caroline you're crazy. Karen,Darla, Bendi and David it was great to hang out with you guys. I know now I'm getting old. I drank tea, didn't like the loud music and left at 9:15. Oh well. Kim, I'm with Mike. You better be at the next one or we're coming over. You are not getting off our radar that easy. We have a cop and an IRS agent in our group. They can locate you. Love you guys. Gary

Mountain Lions - I am sorry to have missed last night's outing. Unfortunately babysitters are not like mana from heaven in NWA and the last time I locked Coop in the closet . . . well let's just say it didn't go over too well!

I will offer up that anytime a place is needed for a NWA get together, my house is always open.

I didn't get to alert you Mountain Lions that showing up at Kim's house isn't really a viable threat...

Next time, you can use my standard warning...I told her if she doesn't "do right" that I'll come up there and toilet paper her trees!!! I know for a fact that Gary has excellent experience at this form of torture!!! LOL

Thanks K.B.M. I never thought of TP. My knees are shot but, I still have a rocket for a arm. "okay" maybe a bottle rocket but i can hurl a roll a T.P. Kim R. we would like to have a cookout around there on a weekend so everyone can bring their young ones. Me and Gary will SUPERVISE! Just kidding. I believe Darla and Gary said there was a nice park up there, but I don't remember the name. Caroline, I hope you will come up even to the weekender, and bring your husband so we can get to know him better. I know gas is high but we can carpool. You and Renee can sit in the back seat and she can tell stories about how wonderful I am, of course she will have to finish on the way back there is so much to say!! haha. I had a blast Tuesday night.

Mike O - loved looking at the pictures. That football picture of you. . . I actually have one of those of you and many other Red Raiders - Wade, Leopard, Cricket, Baese, Cy, Steve Turner, Todd Measel, just to name a few. I've also have lots of pictures of Red Raider Cheerleaders (KBM, Michelle Scholes) and Raiderettes - too many to list here.

Gary Don - Where was your lovely smile on Tuesday night? ? ? Did drinking all that tea make you crumpy?

Regarding the future get together, we have a classmate who has the perfect house for a Mountain Lions get together. Big house, very kid friendly. What about checking on having something there?

Secondly, would we be interested in doing something around a Razorback football game?

Karen, I am sorry but you got to pay attention when a man has a camera, because we don't pay attention to details. You know that your married. I think everyone looked great!!

08/21/08 08:54 AM #469

Mike Oliver

Well I love football so yes to that one. And who's house would be good to cook out at. I don't think any of us need a reason to get together, just a time and place. I figured I would get some kind of response to the football picture. I did think I would get a bigger response out of the picture of Wade. I could e-mail it for the right price. Let the bidding begin.

We had a blast for a Tuesday night!!! We hardly ever go out on a weekend muchless a week night. I enjoyed that so much. Can't wait to hear about the next event......

It was great to see everyone and "great timing" it really helped me snap out of my blues over Ryan moving out...

Keep planning events, it just gives all of us more opportunity to connect wherever it is! If we can't make it to an event, then we can eventually hit one.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers, Karen. This is definitely the greatest loss of my life. We were very close. I am comforted to know 110% that she is in Heaven right now, but I sure miss her here.

Looks like Tuesday night was a ball. I'm so glad that you all are able to have so many get-togethers. Out of towners like me are really missing out. Thank you for sharing it with us, though, and the pictures were great!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Tina

But to clarify you mountain lions allll looked greattt!!! Hope to hear about more of your fun activities and see them.

Karen W. It was a blast, I just hope we can get more people involved next time. There is more 83 Grads up here. I know everyone thinks their class is "THE CLASS" but ours is pretty cool. It's a shame 300 and something don't try classmates or this site either. But I guess there are still some that don't have computer's but over 300, I don't think so. I cant believe I missed the first two or three reunions, after seeing all of you at the 25th. What memories. Anyway I believe I have more pictures but I am pacing myself. LR Lions ya'll have a blast this weekend.

I think the people have the computers or at least access to them but I think it is shyness, fear or the inability to navigate the different systems. I had the dickens of a time with the classmates.com. But I do feel I am doing well with this site Robin and Stephanie put together. Thank GOD for their talents, making it so easy to communiate with each other.
I know people are reading the forums even if they do not at this time want to post a response. I have a positive vibe we will have a great response at the next big reunion.

Tina Skarda (Downey)

Hi, Friends!

As Caroline posted, my grandma (Gammy) died this past Saturday. Thanks to our class reunion in June, I spent some quality time with her and we had fun together as I ran her all over Little Rock! Little did I know it would be the last time we would be together. Because I'm so "busy," I almost didn't attend our reunion, but something told me to go. Not only did I have a blast with you all, but more importantly I had that "last time" with my grandma. After I left, she went into the hospital a couple of weeks later, was diagnosed with lung cancer and was gone in 5 weeks. Everything happened so fast. I was able to visit with her in the hospital for a couple of days at the end of July. We have been very, very close my whole entire life and thankfully I have no regrets, because I kept in very close touch with her even when I moved away. I am going to miss her so much.

My grandpa (Pops) in California was diagnosed with bone cancer in July and I went to visit him last week to say good-bye. He is in hospice care in his home. Gammy died while I was there visiting him. They are my last two grandparents and I've been blessed to have them in my life. They are both 86 and have lived full lives. They were both fine health wise until last month.

All of that not to make you sad for me, but to say that life can change so quickly. People can be fine one minute and gone the next. It's one of those great reminders to not take our loved ones for granted and to see them as much as we can. We never know when it will be the "last visit." It goes back to making the most of every day, because each day is a gift. Just wanted to share, so the next time you have that feeling to call someone, send a card or gift, visit or take a few extra minutes to really listen...follow that "feeling" and you will never regret it!!

Thank you for your sweet e-mails, thoughts and prayers. We do have the best HS class in the world! Hey, and I am still working on our 26th reunion for next summer. Many of you told me that you were interested and Wade Ledbetter contacted me as far as a location, because he has some great venue connections. He's working out a special deal for us at a great location in Little Rock, so when it's all finalized and we have a date, then I will definitely let you know.

Love,

Tina

Tina,
Gosh this has been a hard year for you to have 2 grandparents with diagnosis' of cancer and to loose one grandparent so quickly and the other in hospice care. I have already gone through the loss of all my grandparents 2 in one year and the other 2, 3 years later(cancer & heart attacks). And you are so right about not having regrets if you have kept in touch by phone , e-mail, in person,or by mail. It it important not to hesitate to do those important things in life.
I hope all those who read this will also not put off getting life insurances, wills made, pre-funeral planning etc. thinking they are too young for it, or that it is too morbid to think about, because it is for your family you leave behind. And no I am not a insurance salesman just a nurse who sees some of the fallout and worry of those left behind. And after cancer hits a family two or more times, you learn about all these things.
My thoughts and prayers are with you in the coming months with your grandfather.
On a different note- hope everyone has fun tonight at Cajuns.
