ok, I have settled down now....And Liz bravo to ya sister!!!

I don't want anyone to misunderstand me I'm not a woman advacat for a women's movement! I just feel strongly about what I believe. I'm not replublican nor democrat I'm for the best experienced man or now woman for the job.

I just don't want Palin to be disregarded because she's a mother of 5 childern - paaaalease. Women for years and years have been very successful people who can jungle family, careers and all other obstacles in her life -. And make it work and be happy about it. I too wasn't at all sure who to vote for before the conventions, but now not because Palin has joined the ticket, but because it's clear its all about us, you, me, our families and all Americans!! Truly listen to the rest of campaign and GO VOTE!

God Bless America and You too!
Love yall, ~ Son

Sorry to interrupt this incredibly interesting and civilized discussion of national politics (I'm so pleased that no one is throwing sand or chunking rocks)...I have breaking news...

I spoke with Tony AKA Elvis this morning and got an update on the events in Wisconsin. He performed Friday night and received good marks from the judges, but he didn't make the finals that were scheduled for today. The audience was much less diverse than in Memphis, consisting primarily of entertainer specific fans instead of Elvis fans in general.

They have met some great people, and consider this trip a valuable learning experience. He is going to stay for the events today and be back home tomorrow as planned.

It's disappointing to come home without a prize, but he is not deterred or discouraged. If anything, he seems more determined and focused on his goal and his plan to achieve it.

Having been with the group in Memphis, I know that Tony runs a class act in every way. I'm proud of his courage to follow his dream and especially his commitment to maintain his integrity while he is doing it!!!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to say thank you for the thoughts and prayers during Gustav. My electricity came back on yesterday and my internet started working this morning. I am truly amazed at the number of emails and phone calls from my old high school buddies. Steve and I are fine. Our veterinary hospital had some minor damage, but is back open as an emergency facility as of Friday. We're hoping to be back to our normal specialty/referral schedule by the middle of next week. Now we're watching Ike - please pray that storm goes somewhere else! Thanks again for all your concern - it means a lot! Rose

Rose...so glad to hear that you are okay. I'm sure you have lots of clean up and repair work now that the power is back on...so thanks for taking the time to get word out to us on your status. I know that your neighbors and patients are grateful that you and your clinic will be up to speed so quickly.

As for Hurricane Ike...while I would never wish the devastation of a hurricane on anyone...after that sad excuse for a Razorback game last night...a well placed path through Texas might be disruptive enough to give us another week or so to get in some much needed practice!!!

Rose- glad you are okay. Praying Ike goes another route or dissapates all together.

Kim-This years Hogs are a young team, it will get better. I think alot of Arkansans were on their knees praying til the very end just to help. It could have been worse, but you are right practice is needed.

I'm glad you made it through, Rose. I also hope that Ike doesn't hit you, but since I live 20 minutes north of Galveston, I am also hoping that it doesn't come MY way! Although, it probably is our turn. I guess we will have to wait and see.............here's hoping!

Rose - sent ya an email . . . I, too, am glad everything is OK in your world!!

I am also glad to see all the posts/opinions about the Presidential/Vice Presidential races. Did any of you guys see the special tonight on Ms. Palin and McCain tonight? Very interesting and informative.

The real race has begun. McCain/Palin bus is hitting the road . . . . a lot of folks are really relating to her. Rasmussen poll shows McCain/Obama running neck to neck so far. As Gina Martin said a couple of days ago, either way, we are watching history be made!! Maybe even a write in (Garfield the Cat!)

Kim Reddin - hey, do you know of any specials of Orville (or any other brand) we could buy in bulk? Next 50 - 60 days it would be great to have!!!

Hope everyone is off to a great week!

Amy

Pitbull Owners Blast Palin

Posted September 8, 2008 | 12:27 AM (EST)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who famously compared herself to a pitbull in her vice-presidential acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, appears to have antagonized a key voting bloc in the upcoming election, the nation's pitbull owners.
While Gov. Palin's assertion that the only difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull was "lipstick" drew a loud ovation from the Republican faithful in St. Paul, it raised the ire of the Pitbull Anti-Defamation League, a powerful association of pitbull fanciers who monitor the portrayal of pitbulls in the media.
"As someone who has owned pitbulls for the past twenty years, my jaw dropped," said Carol Foyler, the group's executive director. "Most of us are thinking the same thing: enough is enough."
Ms. Foyler said that for pitbull owners who have grown weary of their prized dogs being defamed and mistreated, Gov. Palin's wisecrack was the last straw: "We're all like, first the Michael Vick thing, and now this."
Tracy Klugian, an irate pitbull owner from Buffalo, New York, echoed Ms. Foyler's sentiments: "I can think of many differences between pitbulls and Gov. Palin - for starters, pitbulls don't try to get their ex-brothers-in-law fired."
With Sens. Barack Obama (D-Ill) and John McCain (R-Ariz) fighting for every last vote, a coveted voting bloc like pitbull owners could very well decide the 2008 election, political insiders believe.
While Gov. Palin was not available for comment on the pitbull controversy, a spokesperson for the McCain-Palin ticket offered this official statement: "Gov. Palin does in fact have one thing in common with a pitbull: neither is capable of answering questions from reporters."

The cop in question tasered his nine year old son. So what if she offended pitbull owners. They have had a reputation way before Michael Vick or Sarah Palin

Did anyone else get an email from someone named Dedi Dibal about this website: http://www.mcclellanhighschoolalumniassociation.org/

Stephanie and Robin - she says she got a 25-year reunion directory - do we know anything about her?

09/09/08 12:01 PM #595

I guess all of you have gotten the email about the Alumni Association, and the Yahoo groups page.

Is anyone interested in getting together to go to the Homecoming game as a group?? (Sept. 26) If there is interest, I'll organize something.

I'm also looking at Saturday, Sept 20 for our next Cajun's night...the Hogs are playing Alabama at 11:30am and it's going to be televised regionally...Odds are, the Razorback faithful will probably be ready for a drink by the cocktail hour...unless it's really, really bad, and everyone is already beyond safe driving by that time.

After last night's catastrophe of epic proportions, I'm a little leery of planning anything else. So, speak up and let me know what you want to do.

Gina,
I checked out this site and it looks weird. The information is old, the links on the picture pages go no where. I appears that someone spent a lot of time putting it together with some information about stuff WAAAAAAY before we were born, but has let the maintenance of the site slide. Plus, what do we get for $30? NADA as far as I can tell. The info from the time we were at the Big Mc is lacking. They think Charlotte Measel and Charlotte Adkins are two different people and don't mention David DeArmond (sp?) at all in the teacher memorials. I did not think to check for any others, that just stuck out.

I just tried to look up my cousins class, and there is some weird latin stuff on the page instead of a list of names...

Hi, Everyone! Thank you for the very interesting posts about our presidential candidates! I agree that we all need to be knowledgeable about the candidates and everyone should take the time to vote. Think about who you believe has the most experience and can do the best job in ALL areas for our country. Check out both sides and see what your heart and mind are telling you. Unless anything dramatically changes between now and then, it is very obvious to me that McCain/Palin would definitey do the best job...hands down. I believe they have the experience, heart and ethics to lead the USA in the right direction. I hope you all have a GREAT week!!! Tina

Hey everyone. Don't panic! There really is a group called the McClellan Alumni Association. Dee Dibal is in charge of it. She is from the class of 1969. It is a legit group. As most of you have noticed by checking out the website, it is not very well organized or maintained. I have tried for the past year to get her up to date regarding our class. It has been a real challenge. There are still some names mispelled and omitted. She is still working through it. I don't know why she has sent out an email regarding the Yahoo group site. I will contact her about it. I chose to ignore it. For me, it's enough to keep up with this site and all of you :) I can't imagine trying to disseminate information to you through other sites. For now, I am happy with this central information avenue. Regarding this website or any other one ~ ideas are always welcome.

I have checked out both the sites discussed and I think Stephanie has done a stellar job with ours! Why go anywhere else?

Isn't that the truth, Liz. :) I barely have time to post here - why deal with a yahoogroup, too?

I'm being Martha tonight. I've made bread and butter. Yes, made my own butter - whipping cream in a quart-size Mason jar, shake for 10 to 20 minutes. Turned out to be a great exercise for the upper arms - then I got silly and started twisting so it made a great exercise for the waist -- which, after eating bread and butter, I'll *need* that exercise for my waist! ;) My children thought it was the funniest thing. Well, Annie didn't. She stood there and cried. "Mommy, I be berry sad! I be berry cwying!" (this is the 2.5 y/o)
