Michael R. "Mike" Sanders

Lost touch with Jerry years ago.

He was a good buddy back in the day. Jerry, also known as "Red", which he strongly disliked, was frequently a passenger in Tom Alford's car which we endearingly called The Green Slime, or some affectionate moniker (hey, it's been 50 years, my memory is challenged at times). Tom typically was the driver. He didn't like young and irresponsible people driving his classic car. Other passengers, along with "Red" would usually be Wally Cummings, Steve Milburn, myself and various other misfits. We had many late night hours of fun terrorizing mailboxes and bags of leaves uncaringly left alone along several streets in Lakewood while cruising in the deserted silence. I'm certain we were cursed many times anonymously in the morning light. I have occasionally looked back over the years with great relief we were never caught. In today's world we would be Ring camera stars.
Other adventures with Jerry included Wally raiding his fathers liquor cabinet so we could enjoy a libation in the pitch black woods behind Wally's house. More than once gagging occurred on probably some decent wine. But our palates were too delicate. We usually followed that up with someone's smuggled cigarettes. The gagging was replaced with coughing spasms. After high school I lost touch with all those guys. Those were great times. I have thought back and enjoyed a little chuckle over the years.

In all seriousness I hope Jerry had a great life. Rest In Peace "Red".
