Wally Joe Wright, 63, of Little Rock went to be with his Heavenly Father after a heroic battle against Multiple Myeloma, Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was born Thursday, July 24, 1952 in Little Rock to Wallace Felder Wright and Catharin Lois (Jones) Wright.

Wally lived in North Little Rock, Mayflower, Little Rock, and Bryant, Arkansas all of his life. He was a graduate of State College of Arkansas (now UCA) where he was an announcer and DJ for the campus radio station. Then, he worked as a DJ for the commercial radio station KVEE in Conway, Arkansas with the radio name “Cliff Edwards.” Wally next worked as an employee of J. C. Penney working in the music department. Upon leaving, Wally worked 19 years as a funeral director at Rubel Funeral Home in Little Rock. He next was employed by Huson Funeral Home for a short time until he became disabled with Multiple Sclerosis. 

Wally was a quiet introvert who loved the Lord and his family, including his late wife of 37 years, Debra Jean, who was the direct opposite of Wally. Wally also deeply loved his two children and his aunt. Wally loved to laugh, and make others laugh with him. He had a passion for all types of music, and a particular love for the Beatles. He had an interest in the weather, specifically storms and severe weather and was lovingly referred to as “Wally Weatherman” by family members who would call to hear his weather reports. He was also a loyal baseball fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Felder Wright; mother, Catharin Lois Wright; and wife, Debra Jean Wright. He is survived by his son, Jeremy Christopher Wright (Rebecca) of Bryant; daughter, Amanda Marie Young (B. J.) of Little Rock; brother, Wayne Thomas Wright (Carolyn) of Cabot; granddaughters, Clare Grace Wright and Blaze Suzette Wright; nephew, Scott Allen Wright (Sarah) and great-nephew Brooks Allen Wright, as well as many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Wally’s life will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 8, 2016 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501-224-8300). Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., before the service. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 10900 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, AR 72212.
