A Dave and Buster's founder has passed away.

David “Dave” Corriveau, 63, died in Dallas on Saturday. His cause of death is currently not available.

Dave and Buster's released the following statement in response to his death:

We are deeply saddened to learn of Dave Corriveau's passing. As a co-founder of Dave & Buster's, he was a true innovator in the world of restaurant entertainment and will be greatly missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.

The first ever Dave & Buster's opened in Dallas in 1982 by Corriveau and James "Buster" Corley. The two had met after opening stores next to each other in Little Rock, Arkansas. The two realized their businesses would be better off as one. There are now over 75 locations in 30 states.

The legend of fun, David “Dave” Oliver Corriveau, passed away on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at his home in Dallas, Texas. He was 63 years old. 

Dave was born in Madison, Wisconsin on September 15, 1951 to Roland and Evelyn Corriveau. His family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 13, where he lived for the next 18 years. Dave graduated North Little Rock High School and continued his education at Louisiana Tech University – School of Aviation to become a pilot. 

Dave loved family, friends and a chance at a challenge. This included his entrepreneurial skills that were continued in Little Rock with his establishment, Cash McCool’s Saloon and Game Parlor, in 1975. He soon followed, in 1977, with the opening of Slick Willy’s World of Entertainment in Little Rock’s historic train station. His future was about to change, when James “Buster” Corley opened his restaurant, Buster’s, next door and a legendary business partnership began. The creative duo moved to Dallas in 1982 to develop the internationally-recognized restaurant entertainment concept called Dave & Buster’s. Their unique vision of food & fun grew the business, and today D&B is still leading the industry with more than 72 locations and over 11,000 team members. And as Dave would have said, “There’s no place quite like it."

Surviving Dave is his beloved mother, Evelyn and his children, Charlotte and Chad Corriveau; one grandchild; sister, Pat (Alan) Nease and brothers, Jim and Mike (Leng) Corriveau. 

Dave’s father, Roland W. Corriveau and brother, Donald, preceded him in death. 

Dave had a passion for fun, and made it his life’s work with his involvement with Dave and Buster’s. He also lived this passion in his personal life with his penchant for throwing the best parties around. His enthusiasm, generosity, zest for life, and concern for others will be deeply missed.
