Gary Abbott Adams

The family of Gary A. Adams wishes to thank you for your prayers and for honoring his memory.
Gary departed life Friday evening, July 14, 1995 at age 42. He was born on September 8, 1952, the youngest of two boys born to Hershel A. and Opal Adams. He was the younger brother of Jimmie Adams.

As a youth, Gary attended North Little Rock High School as a member of the Class of 1970. He later served in the National Guard for 8 years.

On June 28, 1975, he married Darlos A. Bryant, becoming a loving stepfather to Darla's two sons, D.J. and Kenneth Harlan. Later, Gary and Darla had two daughters, Strawberry Mashell and Destini Marie.
Gary spent most of his life living in North Little Rock, until moving to the family country homeplace in Jacksonville, where he resided  until his death.

Gary enjoyed taxidermy, leather and snakeskin work, and raising horses, or whatever other animal came his way.

Not only his family, but all who knew Gary loved him, and will miss his tenderness, warmth and compassion for life.

Gary was someone who never met a stranger, and all who crossed his path will never be forgotten.

Parents: Hershel Andy Adams (1912-1993)
Opal Martha (Abbott) Adams (1915–2008)

Comments from  Darlos  Bryant Adams, Gary's widow:
“I had 2 boys when we married and no one ever knew they weren't his because he treated them the same as our daughter. He has one daughter which  HE named, and if you knew him, I am sure you won't be shocked to be told he named her Strawberry. He has one grandson and one granddaughter who were born after he passed. Grandson's name is Paris Adams (21 years old) and granddaughter is Diamond (16 years old)."

"Gary died 2 years before his dad, and many years before his mother."

"We found out in 1988 that he needed a Liver Transplant due to a motorcycle wreck in 1972. He got a bad blood transfusion which infected him with Hepatitis C. He fought a long hard battle, but also refused the Transplant because he was unwilling to change his life...he loved his birds and horses and refused to let them go. He loved going out and messing with his horses for hours most days.”
"There wasn't a Senior picture because after he dropped cherry bombs down the toilet blowing out the plumbing at NLRHS, he got sent to a school in Tennessee. Then he joined the National Guard after high school."

"Also, Gary made Rattlesnake Hat Bands and Belts. He would go to Sweetwater TX and get a few hundred pounds of them and bring them to Arkansas ...of course they had to be alive to cross state lines, but he loved doing his craft."

"We got married in Oklahoma on March 10th, 1975 but no one was there,  so we got an Arkansas license and married here as well with family present."
