Larry Gene Smith
March 7, 1951 - August 29, 2019
NLRHS Class of 1970

Larry Gene Smith, 68, ended his battle with brain cancer August 29,2019. He was born March 7,1951 to Hoy and Maxine Smith. He grew up in North Little Rock, AR. He later settled in Camden, AR where he raised his family. He spent the latter years of his life in a truck, driving cross country but he called Greenbrier, AR home.

He was a marine corps vet, master of sarcasm, an awesome mechanic, giving father, and loving pawpaw. He was also a die hard Nascar fan. You could find him every weekend in his chair, watching the races.

(Note: Larry did not graduate with his class, but instead dropped out of school to join the USMC.)

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and one brother, Charles Smith. Survivors include sister, Loretta Hodge of Camden, AR; twin brother, Terry Smith of GA; son, Shawn Smith, his wife, Chrissa of Greenbrier, AR, and their children, Triston and Zoie; Lindsey Jones, husband, Chris Jones, of Magnolia, AR, and their children, Dj, Kameron, Chace, Natalie, and Hannah; son, Eric Smith, of Bossier City, LA and his children, Kaiden, Eaton, and Nicholus; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Proctor Funeral Home, Kindred Hospice, and Advanced Health and Rehab of El Dorado.

Per Larry's last wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry's name to The American Brain Cancer Association.
