James "Jim" Thomas Byrd

August 20, 1952 - June 28, 2024

NLRHS Class of 1970

James “Jim” Thomas Byrd, 71, of North Little Rock went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, June 28 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Mr. Byrd was born on August 20, 1952 to Doris and Tommy Byrd. His greatest legacy is that of pouring into the next generation. He was a member at Park Hill Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as a deacon. For 42 of those years, he served in the children's and student ministry where he continually shared the love of Jesus and the hope we find in Him.

He was a devoted husband that adored his wife, Debbie Byrd, for 51 years. He loved his daughters deeply and modeled a life devoted to serving as Jesus served. He adored his sons-in-law and found great joy in spending time together in their shared interests. His grandchildren were a prize on this earth to him. He rarely missed one of their events and was always one of their biggest fans. He was proudest when they were serving God in the local church because he knew that was the only thing that mattered for eternity. On this earth he was a Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend, but the title he was most proud of was Child of the One True God. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone.

He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School Class of 1970 and received an accounting degree from UALR. He played collegiate golf at both Harding University, UALR, and continued to play with friends and family as a favorite pastime. Jim was the CFO at Lomanco for 33 years and considered them family. He enjoyed duck hunting, training Labrador retrievers for field trials and was an avid Razorback fan. Jim is survived by his wife, Debbie Byrd; children, Carmen Lane and husband Brian of Vilonia, Kelly Reddin and husband Matt of Little Rock; grandchildren, Chloe Lane, Mackenzie Reddin, Harrison Lane, Parker Reddin; and cousins who were more like brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Tommy Byrd.

Jim has been entrusted to the care of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home & Rest Hills Memorial Park.

In Lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

A visitation will be held at Park Hill Baptist Church from 11:30am to 1:00pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 1:00p.m. Burial will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock, AR.
