Mark was quite a character.  My first recollection of Mark was way back in the 60's during our Granada Little League days.  It was during our last year in Little League (6th grade), Mark and I were on the same team.  It was my first year at trying my hand at pitching.  Luckily for me, Mark was my catcher... and he was real good at it.  The first game I ever pitched - which was on opening day (a big thing for a little leaguer) - was a no-hitter... and Mark proved to be the best comfort for a guy who always had a bad case of butterflies before a game.  I pitched 2 no-hitters and 2 one-hitters that year... and Mark caught every pitch.  He was the kinda little leaguer that knew how to talk up the chatter for your defense - always making noise - and he knew how to get to the batters as well.  By the end of a game, he'd be covered in dirt, both skin and uniform, and he'd always have spit all over his chin from the large wads of gum that was frequently stuffed in his mouth. I remember him as a guy who wasn't afraid to get down and dirty.  I also remember his older brothers.  Those guys were fearless... just like Mark.

I was at East Ave junior high scholl with Mark,Proud to be an East Ave Dolphin.I  only weighed about 99 lbs and we were on the wrestling team together. We were having a match comming up with another school and Mark and I  had to wrestle off to see who was going to compete.Mr. Dipauli was the coach and he was pretty tough.Mark KICKED MY ASS.He straight armed me (which is an illeagle move) probably about 10 times. My mouth was bleeding and I just couldn"t believe that the referee didn't call it on him.It was so embarressing. I think I cried.  LOL

Mark asked me to dance at our 8th grade dance at East Avenue.  "Precious and Few" was the tune and who knew it would ultimately define our times together.  He was pretty scrappy and a bit of a naughty boy for a preacher's daughter to be hanging with (haha)!  I loved that boy.
