Lorene Allen (Newbold)

October 12, 1950 - November 8, 2018

Lorene Allen Newbold passed away peacefully at home on November 8th after a 5+ year battle with spinal cancer. Lorene was born October 12, 1950 in SLC, Utah, the first of five children born to George Junior Allen and Alene Morrill Allen. Her family moved to Logan, Utah in the fall of 1952, and she attended Logan city schools and graduated from Logan High School in 1968, where she was an honor student. Lorene attended Utah State University where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in June of 1971 Magna Cum Laude and was given by Kowanis Club of Logan an award for being outstanding student of USU’s school of Education. Lorene then graduated with a Master’s Degree in School Psychology at Utah State University in 1974. Lorene married David Newbold 13 August 1974 in the Ogden Temple. They were blessed with 3 daughters: Kimberly (Samuela Kaufusi), Amy (Benjamin Crook), and Lori (Michael Lillywhite). They lived in Kaysville, Utah for over 36 years. When her daughters all entered school, Lorene went to work as a School Psychologist for Davis County School District and continued to serve the children of that district for over 31 years. She was honored as School Psychologist of the Year in 2005 by the district. Lorene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially enjoyed her time serving in the Young Women’s program. Lorene’s life was filled with service and teaching her family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and especially the children around her. Her testimony of the gospel and of her Savior, Jesus Christ, will live on in the lives of those who were blessed to know her. She was blessed with the ability to see the good in everyone and strived to help people see the good in themselves! Lorene’s brothers and sisters are Stephen (Linda) Allen, Marvin (D’On) Allen, Lenis (deceased) (Byron) Bair, and Paul (Jan) Allen. Her father, George Allen passed away 4 years ago and her mother, Alene Allen is still resides in Logan, Utah. The family wishes to give special thanks to the many friends who have so faithfully served her the last year as the effects of cancer increased. Many thanks to her doctors and the hospice staff at Legacy. There will be a private graveside service for her family. Please join Lorene’s family on Saturday November 17, 2018 for an open house celebration at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on 615 North Flint Street in Kaysville from 3:00-5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, we will be collecting donations of toys, children’s clothes (new or used) or money to benefit the children at Whitesides Elementary, where she worked for many years.
